Well, they paid up to 96 places this year, just like last year. So this extra $16,000 has to come from other places. The previous years that only paid n64 places, the payouts were much better at the top - considering the average purse and not just 1st place.
For example, consider the following comparison between the two:
2006 Top 4 place purse in a 96 place payout - 1st 40k, 2nd 15k, 3rd 10k & 4th 5k = 50k
2005 Top 4 place purse in a 96 place payout - 1st 40k, 2nd 20k, 3rd 10k & 4th 5k = 75k
2004 Top 4 place purse in a 64 place payout - 1st 30k, 2nd 15k, 3rd 10k & 4th 5k = 60k
And I completely forgot the point of all this! lol Anyway, it paid $25k less than 2005. I hope my point was made! hahaha
