Yes, the Black Talon ammo was highly exploited by the news and then discontinued due to "doctors getting injured by the talons upon removal".
The self defense ammo they make today far exceeds the capabilities of Black talons though (Gold Dot for one). If you want to pay $3 a round, go for it.
