No, they didn't start late. With the players auction of around 100 players beginning at 7:30 ish about 1/2 hour late play began at around 9:30 as stated by all.
When you have a players auction, and you don't know how many people that you will get last minute, you cannot predict the actual time it will start.
IF you had come to the desk and asked me what time I thought it would start, I would have told you around 9:00.
Seasoned players know that when there is a players auction, the play starts immediately after. AND, you can expect the auctioneer (John Abruzzo, who knows all the players) to go at about 100 players an hour.
YOU will find this at ANY tournament, mine, Viking or ANY that has a players auction that the play starts immediately AFTER the start time listed.
