wood joint prep?

Just received a new ArnotQ and it has the joint screwing into the shaft directly, with the 3/8 radial pin and it has fibre collars. Should any special prep be done to the threads or the inside of the shaft?

Thanks in advance,
Joe

ps would standard 3/8 joint protectors fit?

no need to do anything special to the threads and no sir standard 3/8 joint protectors wont work.......but you can get protectors for the radial pin.....juston

Just keep the pin and the shaft clean.
UniLoc sells their own j/p for the radial pin.
They are NOT like the usual 3/8 10 or 11 thread variety at all.

Why don't you just ask Mr. Wadsworth for the joint protectors
seeing you are both in Florida

I have had 2 Kersenbrocks for over 25 years, both have 3/8 x 11 pins into wood..Dave recommended putting vaseline on a cue tip to clean out the dust and the vaseline puts a lite amount of coating in the wood so the wood will not get brittle and break.
...only do this a couple times a year...
Works good so far...

I read all the time about all about the familiar joints 3/8 x 10 , etc. I happen to have a Tad that has a 3/8 x 12 pin. Anyone else heard of cues with a similiar size?

So a light coating of vaseline directly on the threads is a good idea? Completely safe to do?

I've heard of using auto-wax to tighten up the connection; is that a safe thing to do?

My old 314 is starting to loosen up...
