has a report that World Snooker has on their web site:
'We are in advanced stages of discussions with the Billiard Sports Association of Thailand about the staging of the World Cup in Bangkok from July 11 to 17, and we hope to make a formal announcement on this shortly’.
‘The provisional format includes 20 two-man teams from around the world and we expect to release full details in the coming weeks. At this stage the criteria for selecting players has not been finalised’.
Since the small islands off the coast of Europe will absorb a disproportionate number of slots - Ireland, Northern Ireland, England, Scotland, Wales - the question to be asked - will North America be invited or represented?
Canada has, amongst others, the two old warhorses - Cliff Thorburn and Kirk Stevens, both going strong at the Cambridge Invitational Pro/Am this week, and who have been playing in the UK Legends series, but who would make up a U.S. team?
