World Snooker Pics

I was lucky enough to get some tickets from a friend to see the quarter finals of the Wrold Snooker Championships in Sheffield tonight. We saw 7 times World Champion Stephen Hendry come back from 5:1 down to draw level with Mathew Stevens 8:8 (race to 13 to finish tomorrow). And we where also lucky enough to catch the end of the Steve Davis v Saun Murphy Quarter Final. Unfortunately for Steve it doesn't look like he is going to progress much further as he will not sleep well tonight as he finished 12:4 down to this new young gun. Amzing though that Mr Davis, six times world Champion has probably secured his place in the top 16 for another season. I think he only has a couple more years to go to acheive his ambition of making it to 50 years old in the top 16. Unfortunately no cameras where allowed but I sneaked a few crafty shots at the end risking the wrath of the nasty looking doormen lol

Sorry sniper, I was fortunate enough to have a friend that had bought two tickets off ebay for 21 pounds each! Face value was only 12.50 but not bad considering we got to see Davis and Hendry play in the Quarter finals. Lots of tickets for the semi's and final on ebay but seling for well over a 100 pounds - still not bad though for a world final.

BTW, Davis and Hendry both lost this morning so to me it looks like its Ronnies title for a 3rd time.

Funny you should post those pictures today (OK, yesterday)... this morning while eating my breakfast and reading the paper, there, on the front page of the sports section of our local paper, is a picture of Steve Davis looking over one of his quarter-final shots. His cheeks were blown out like a puffer fish, looking like he did not like what he was seeing ... There was only a one paragraph description of the photo, no coverage, but it's still good to see ! Thanks again for the photos. Well done dodging the large lads !

Why in the hell were you actually there watching the greatest snooker players alive when you could be at home meticulously recording it for your pals at Azbilliards?

Awful disappointed in you.... :D

Seriously though, it would be a blast to watch those guys play. Has there ever been a snooker tourney in the US where the top guys from Europe came over to play?

After the Sang Lee event in NY this august, the European three cushion players might be gone for a long time too...the Carl Conlon event in Vegas didn't happen this year because the promoters got tired of losing five figure sums of cash to make it happen (Thanks for the earlier events though, Bob J.)

Oh well, I can always watch 7-ball on ESPN.... or maybe not.

Well yes true, I heard that a lot of people record it with TV cards onto their PC now but I havent had time. However I did get some sneeky video clips too but nothing more than the odd minute here and there, prob not worth veiwing but I might put it on my site if I get chance?

Yes Mr Davis didn't look too pleased. He actually came out for the session this morning and gave the referee a 20 pound note as a joke hoping for some help lol He was losing 12-4 and need to win 9 in a row, he lost the first frame! He seemed happy to have made it too the last 8 though in his post match interveiw.

Funny though my mother watched it on TV and said she saw me on TV about 6 times chewing my finger nails sweating the match lol. Did she tape it - did she hell!

You lucky stiff! I'm green with envy.

Does anybody have the video clip of Mark Williams' 147 break? The BBC Web site has links to quite a few highlight clips from the World Championships, including the maximum, but they are not accessible from outside the UK. I'm dying to see the break. Even a working link to it would be appreciated.
