Would like to know the maker of this Quality Shaft. It is for sale and will put up a price after information or make offer. PM any information. Thanks for any help.
unknown shaft: 3.97 oz. 12.5 mm 28 7/8" long. Perfectly straight. Fancy Wood - No dings - unknown thread - It is not 5/16 x 18 or 5 /16 x 14. It looks like 5/16 x something. Maybe 5/16 x 16. It has a brass thread insert.

One opinion:
YOU KNOW WHAT YOU JUST MIGHT HAVE,A OLD RAMBOW SHAFT THAT WAS A FIBER JOINT.IF THATS WHAT THIS IS ,THE SKY WOULD BE THE LIMIT ITS VERY RARE..THE IS A GUESS. I NEED A RAMBOW SHAFT BUT I NEEN A BRASS JOINT SHAFT.

Different thread pitch?

Are you sure its not a 5/16 by 14 with a different pitch like the old R and S series Schons had? My implex jointed S shaft will not thread on to a newer cue. Some of the old lower end S series schon cues had that brown collar too. Just an idea. Good luck in your search.

that could be possible too.. here is an example.. paul mottey 5/16x14 shafts will fit on all schons.. but a schon 5/16x14 shaft wont fit on the paul mottey cues.. even though they are the same pin size.. the pitch is different so they bind up a third of the way on...

that could be exactly what it is..

Pitch is the number of threads per inch. Schons are 14 threads per inch. But the older Schon pins are not 5/16" (0.3125"). IIRC, they are 0.302". If the shaft insert is fairly tightly mated to the pin, it won't fit a pin that is 0.3125". That is why Schon pins will fit in 5/16x14 inserts. If the pitches were different, the misfit would go both ways.

Schick shafts for SS joints have the same problem, because the pins are even thinner than Schon. http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=33700 The thread angle on the Schick pin also appears to be a bit more steep than other 5/16x14 pins. So that might cause a bind also if the insert is tightly mated. I don't know anything about Schon thread angles.
