With all the excitement over the Open we might forget about this event starting tomorrow in Oklahoma. Still recovering from fracturing my elbow 3 months ago, I did not want to spend 600.00 in travel to fly there nor trek cross country for way too long in a car. (I really hope they move this to a more accessible site in the future) While 4 of my (younger and heartier) friends made the 12 hour drive from Atlanta! So I will pulling for Betty, Dana, Katie and Kristen! (Oh man do we have an awesome team for next years BCA!)
I am sure GirlOne will be there to defend her title and I am curious to see who else makes it? Xpan? This snooker player, that came over and played in a NEWT event, last week? Any other boardies?
Here is a link to the brackets which I imagine will be posted sometime later today, play begins tomorrow morning.

Hi CueChick,

How did you do in Greenville last weekend? I was gonna speak, but you were still playing a match when I left.

I just wanted to say that I have only been to one Women's Amateur Nationals when it was at Murphy's in Athens. But it was a great event, and alot of fun to watch. Jasmin Ouschan won the event, and there were alot of current WPBA Pros that were there watching. I remember seeing Tiffany N., Jeanette, Allison, and others there. And there seems to be much more rising talent now than there was then. Anyone who can make it should definitely attend.

Mike

I won the winners side bracket, thanks Mike, for asking. I wish you had said hello, I did not see you! The last (and only) A Nationals I was able to play in was in Charlotte in 2000 and I finished 5th! I think I am playing much better since then...I was not yet living in the South the 2xs it was at Murphy's :( ! And had conflicts both times...
The problem with it being in Oklahoma is it is not a major hub and I could not find an airfare for under 450.00! When you add car rental, hotel, food and entry fees...your talking about 700.00!

Congratulations.

When I left, you were at the end table playing the girl with short black hair. Someone said that she advanced last year. I watched most of your match before I left.

I guess I was focused then cause I did not see you. It went right down to the last nine ball. I think she advanced from the losers side, though I heard she lost but her opponent forfeited it to her?

thanks for the bracket link - i agree with you in that i have wanted to travel to that event for several years, but am not willing to fork up the dough to do it - it is extremely costly to go to OK from anywhere.
