Wrap glue

I decided that I didn't like the smooth leather wrap on my schon cue and I'm planning to have it rewrapped with linen. Anyway, I pulled the wrap off myself just to see how the cue was constructed, but all the glue stayed behind, stuck to the handle with black leather fuzzies in it. I was just wondering if there was some solvent or something I could use to remove the glue without damaging the maple handle, or should I just wait until I send it to the repair guy and have him remove it.

Thanks

I spin the cue in my lathe and use a razor blade. You have to hold it just right. If you have never done it before a Schon probably would not be the right cue to practice on.
