Wrap Groove in Predator Cue

Anything land mines to look for when cutting a wrap groove/channel in a Predator P2? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

No land-mines, just wood.

The trick however is to keep from chipping the finish. No biggie should it happen. A quick shot of clear will get you back to where you need to be.

What about the BK2 with the black finish. The finish looks to me like epoxy with black dye added. Would it be possible to cut the wrap groove into one of those?

I agree with the answers. Just make sure your cutters are sharp because the finish likes to delaminate.

To the best of my knowledge, the finish used by Predator is UV.
However some of the 'limited edition handles' are built by other companies such as Peachauer, Samsara, Mezz and etc. and will have the finish used by those companies.

The BK is built by Predator and is not finished in epoxy. The handle is painted flat-black and shot with UV. The finish is very durable but instances of lifting have occurred. Cutting a wrap groove in a BK(2) should be the same as with any other cue. Should you get into the black, use a little flat-black for touch-up. Hope this helps to clarify.
 
I haven't done this on a predator yet but on othe cues. I took a 3/8 square tool stock and ground it down to a very fine point. Like a knife just for scoring the clear coat at each end of the wrap groove. It cuts a very fine line through the finish and I don't have any problem with the finish lifting or chipping.
Don't know if this is the best way to do this. But it has worked very well for me so far.
