Dear Gentle Readers,

“They’re not shooting the shots they’re supposed to. To make the commentators look good.”

Tableau: Mr. Henderson, in the booth with Mr. Barber, at the estimable POV one-pocket rodeo at California Billiards. John Schmidt and Amar Kang were shooting some creative, and wildly unpredictable, shots in the finals.

People have been saying the game of one pocket is changing.
Many of the traditional opinions about shot options have been overthrown by the newer, and more aggressive, styles of play being demonstrated in recent years.
"Power" one pocket strategies are becoming more prevalent. I've always chose to play the game
with an aggressive approach.
Despite making a shot, and often resulting in an out, I've still been told by a few old timers that the shot was the wrong choice.
John Schmidt was playing well this weekend, and his
14.1 influence was very apparent.
