I have a 20oz one, early 90’s Canadian made (red maple leaf Inlayed) in near new condition, if interested make me an offer
 
What's the price range you're looking to stay in.

I do have a dufferin that's the old canadian stock. It feels a bit on the light side. It's my only player right now, but I have it modified (11.5 pro/conical mix taper, kamui medium tip, Westinghouse Micarta ferrule).

The shaft and butt are from two different pieces, and relatively straight. I do have the original butt that goes with the shaft (grain almost lines up) but that has a warped forearm.

Anyway, I'm located in Chicago (you can usually find me at marie's golden cue or city pool hall), but my price would be $215 firm if you seriously wanted to buy it (the cost of another cue I have my eye on. It's a bit pricey, but it is old rare canadian stock with a lot of work done to it).

Anyway you can let me know if this works or not.
Here are pics (both with old butt w/out tip, recent ones with new butt with tip and ferrule)

Thank u for your replies guys. I apologize bc I should have added more details to my posting. I'm used to play pool 6 if not 7 days each week in 1989 to 1993 then I became a single Dad and didn't have time to play. So I have been out of the game for a very long time but I just joined a team that plays each week. Yesterday was my first game in many years. I think after a month I will have a better idea what I want to spend my money on. For now I'm looking for a cheap old school cue around 17 to 18oz. It can be beat up as long as its a good shooter. My budget is around $50.00 right now. That Dufferin is exactly what I'm looking for, I like the old school cues, I just need to get back into playing before I commit to $200 on a cue.

That's really weird - I have the same model and took pics of it on my bed as well - I thought it was mine for a minute. See post 14 of this thread for photos on a different surface.

How does taking it down to 11.5mm affect deflection? Mine deflects too much for me, so i'm going to have it taken down at some stage.

Ha, I live in a small apartment so I have no where else to take the photos :smile:

The writing on the original butt says "18 oz Dufferin"....which really measured to 19.6oz on the scale at my cue repair guy's shop.

The etching on the butt now is faded out, but the wood looks aged. It was actually thinner, and in waaay better condition. Feel lighter so it balanced out the cue. After a joint refacing, I have a perfect combo. (It was old stock sitting in the pool hall)

To answer you question, taking it down lowers deflection due to less mass, but you have to compensate by being more accurate with where you hit the ball since it will put more spin. The light weight micarta ferrule plays a big role in that too.

Assuming if the dufferin has a pro taper, taking it down to 11.5mm would make it super whippy, therefore it may deflect even more (like an old meucci I had).

When I first received the dufferin, it was clearly converted from a 1 piece, so it had whatever conical taper on it at about 13mm. I asked my cue guy to convert so i can use it as a break cue, (and potentially a 3 cushion cue if I wanted to start it off). He placed a billiard taper on it, and shaved it down to 11.75 mm.

When I decided this was going to be my main player after (begrudgingly) selling my Cog, I had it tuned. With the new ferrule and tip, he took it down another .5mm and it worked out. It suits my style of play, so not sure if it'll work with everyone.

Sorry my posting wasn't as interesting for ya. So does anyone one know where I can find a $50 used 17 or 18oz 2pc Canadian made Dufferin? I saw one sold on here last Fall for $40 from a Google search. Thanks
