There have been a number of recent suspensions from the World Snooker Tour recently (the details haven't been fully disclosed, but it is strongly implied its related to some sort of betting activity), however Yan is the first real big name player to be included in the recent suspensions and given his (on screen at least) persona, it is definitely the most surprising.

i never would have suspected him. but it's a fact that many chinese snooker players started their careers being financed by money lender groups, hui and other schemes. these informal loan circles are all over asia and in migrant chinese communities. i never bet on chinese players for that reason, you never know if they are indebted!

i hope it's not this and just a minor offense such as the case with stuart bingham
 
Another reason why pool/ snooker will never be main stream. Way to many scumbag activities. But on the flip side if their is actually money to be won, players would have no reason to cheat like that.

People are still greedy. The list can go on and on of pro players that are really shitty gamblers. I've know plenty of good players that make hand over fist of money at the Pool table and lose it all at cards or the craps table. Just because he won a million don't mean he didn't lose it all else-wares.
