Your fundamentals

Hi Danny,

I'm glad to see you on the forums, you are by far one of my favorite players to watch! I particularly admire your fundamentals, they seem rock solid. Did you have to experiment with your stroke/stance to find what worked for you, and consciously make an effort to adjust your fundamentals, or did it just come naturally? Also I noticed you stand more square to the table than some other players, was that a conscious decision?

Hi

Well I appreciate the compliment, I grew up watching some of the other players from my area whom I thought were solid. As for my stance I have made a some changes when pocketing a long shot only, I have found that by using the european or snooker stance it helps me on the long shot. The English snooker players are the best long shot perpetrators in existance and by squaring off and locking the back leg it does seem to help me stay down on the ball especially when the cueball is close to the rail. However a person must be carefull when expimenting with this snooker stance cause of your lower back it can be easily injured if you try to use it on every shot, my advice would be to stay with what is comfortable and if the cue ball is on the rail and it's a long shot try to 'pot' the ball.
Sicerely, 'little Danny'
