Your opinion about the best Canadian player NOW

Considering he was born in the Philippines (born June 25, 1976) but holds dual citizenship...I don't really consider him really a true Canadian. Not to take away from his skill and achievements as a pool player...but truly a Canadian Pool Player as the thread states...I would be reluctant to claim his as the best "Canadian" player.

John Morra and Jason Klatt if Alex isnt included. Everyone else (Hjorleifson, Mario, Montal, Wood, Creiver, Martel etc) is a level below.
Morra's been dominating the pool scene in Canada and did well at the worlds with a nice top 32 finish. Haven't seen Klatt do much damage since his good run in the US open a lil while back.

Johnny is right there but his dad on any given day could grind the hell out of
any player on earth and beat them stupid.
Mario to me is one of the only guys I've watched and played, that even if you
do end up beating him,you still feel like you lost.
I've beat Mario 1 time and when the match was over, my brain felt like mush
and I needed a nap.
I love Johnnys game alot but his father is a little beast and gets my vote.

oh canada

Even posters on this thread display great tolerance.........oh Canada indeed!

Canadian law permits dual citizenship....it specifies that you will still be
recognized as a Canadian if you have dual or multiple citizenships.

I feel Canada has 3 world champions at billiards...Cliff Thorburn, Brittany
Bryant, and Alex Pagulayan...and I'm proud of all three.

And the ultimate proof that Alex should be considered Canadian????
Spinning the cue-ball tends to be called 'side' in the UK....
...it tends to be called 'english' in the USA...
...but I don't know of another country in the world but Canada that calls it 'siding'
...and that's what Alex called it in a banking instruction video.

I rest my case

ps
Alex was born in 1978

well said lol

Alex P. He became an elite player in Canada learning from Paul T. and then battling against Martel. I don't see any reason to not include him in this poll.

Well said. Plus he likes his beer.

In my humble opinion I would have to say Danny Hewitt is the best born & raised Canadian 9-ball/10-ball player we have.

Even if he doesn't travel (or compete) as much has he use too (States or even Canadian Championship), I still think he could beat Jason or John in a long set (race to 30/50/60 etc...)

I do believe he may have more victories over world class competition (Archer , Bustamante, Souquet, Deuel etc...) than any of our new generation players.

Finally in my defense, How many Canadians pros have won a US pro tour event?

Does anyone remember his 10-ball tournament victory over Jim Rempe back in 2003?

You know who talked D Hewitt into going for that Atlantic City tourney?
Alex Pagulayan...and he was proud of him.

Alex has been good to other players.

Pagulayan. There should be no questions of whether he is Canadian or not.

He may of been born in the phillipines but he and his game is purely Canadian, highlighted by the fact that he has been the Canadian Snooker Champ twice.

Tons of great players in this country, but Alex has done a ton for the game and has dominated for decades.

best canadian player now

HI for now it would be Alex Pagulayan second best would be the Dancing BEAR Alain Martel and third would be Danny Hewitt

The fastest Canadian Player would be Luc Salvas

Cheers Leonard from Montreal Quebec Canada

Much agreed!

Martin Daigle is playing real well right now, Would not beat Alex in a longer race but could match up well with Morra, Klatt, Horleifson etc.
