You have to be a Canadian citizen to play in a Canadian championship....

Who's freddie?

They are in the land of boggs, isnt it?

I watched a fair amount of coverage from the WSOP main event last week. I think Nick Shulman (sp?) is great as a commentator. He's supposedly pretty good on the pool table too!

Wasn't he Ginky's protégé? Or am I confusing him with someone else?

Could have been, sounds like he might be from that part of the country, and I think his pool playing days might have dated back that far.

They're trying. There were tons of complaints over the last several years when they moved the pro events to 7-foot tables. So this year they moved to Griff's since it has the 9-foot tables already there, and it's not far from the BCA Nationals.

One thing about Mark Griffin and those guys, they make some mistakes but they adjust and try something new. I'm sure they'll figure this out and adjust next year.

This is true. CSI takes a lot of heat every year, and they always bounce right back.

I'm just glad to see 9ft's in the US OPEN's

No doubt they will adjust, plus they are running a shuttle dang near non stop from the Rio. Growing pains

Yes indeed, the 9 footers are a welcome sight.

And there are solutions to the problem .. I will just assume that Griff's was caught off guard and surprised at how many people would show up for the prestigious event. A more negative assumption is that they failed to plan at all .. either way it is what it is.

So the nice turn out is the silver lining. Now it's time to plan more accordingly to accommodate them correctly in the future.

There is a simple solution, after all we are talking Las Vegas here.

There are many off strip casinos in town where you can rent a large space reasonably. This would allow the good folks at Griff's an opportunity to use a floor plan with plentiful seating, with great sight lines, and room for not only all attending, but room for even more in future years as the tourney increases in popularity.

If you own a dog racing track, the best dog racing track in the world, that is a great thing ... but it does not mean you can host a major hoarse racing event on you small dog sized track.

Not trying to be a smart ass -- just attempting to identify what went wrong and supply a plausible solution.

Good luck Griff's -- We are all looking forward to you're new and improved accommodations for next years tournament.

Looks like Shane is hungry for yet another US Open

How many is it now? Per Wikipedia, 5 US Open 9 balls, 2 US Open 10 balls, 1 US Open one-pocket, 2 US Open 8 balls...

Maybe Griffs is trying to promote his pool hall. Having it at another site won't help.

Of course that is what he is doing and so many clueless people were lauding him for bringing the event back to 9 footers-SMH

You better hope that the stream comes up because I'm at Griff's and the seating is so bad I can't take it. Luckily, for me I came to Vegas for the Woodworking Fair at the Convention Center and figured the tournament would be a good time filler. NOT SO, no decent chairs and I can't see a damn thing and I'm 6'2" tall. Coming here was a complete waste of time. Well, at least until tomorrow when the trade show starts.

Any pictures I have seen on Facebook, I didn't see anyone in the place watching. Must of just been bad angles on the ones I saw if you are saying there were actually a large amount of people watching.

And the $10 admission = $10 food/beverage ticket is nothing short of nitty. Just be happy people show up to watch the event, maybe buy some food or drinks and put money into your slot machines. Espcially when you are scheduling matches at 9AM in Vega$.

Probably would a good idea if your manager wasn't playing in the event as well. He should be, well, managing.

The stream failures I have read about also astound me. It's the internet source in your own building. You aren't relying on a third party (hotel, convention, someone else's establishment) to provide it for you. You had literally months to test and make sure there were no issues.

Shane defeated Warren Kiamco 9-4 to win the hot seat. They're getting lazy with their brackets updates. At least the stream was solid this match.

And beyond the fact that the flyer only states "FREE Shuttle to Griffs" and doesn't mention anything about being forced to spend $10.....

What about the fact that they seeded the top 16 players based on Fargo Rate and that wasn't detailed as well on the flyer.....just a little blurb about it found on the CSI website?

Classic Vegas putting a bad taste in people's mouths by making you spend money that 95% were going to spend anyway.

I don't have any problem with the $10 admission charge and a $10 credit on food or drinks. The problem seems to be creating a decent viewing area for people who came to watch these matches. Some tables could have been moved so more seating around the room could have been added. It's not that hard to slide a table (on two dollies) 20-30 feet across the floor. You just need to re-level it when you put it back. Just adding a row of chairs and a row of bar stools behind them would have made a big difference. Maybe fifty more people could watch that way. We've done that before in many poolroom events. Just a suggestion, but it's not my room so that's up to someone else to decide.
