Frustrated with my own slow play in 8 ball

You need to spend some time and walk the table. It appears like you’re not comfortable or confident in the process. Once you learn how to play better at pace (don’t think long) the change will come for better or worse. Put your work in but don’t attempt risky shots - play to get back on the table.

Fast Improvement Training Method for Shot Making

What the heck with the sneaky YouTube link? You guys need to stop marketing and abide to the rules. I don't believe that Ray needs to prove anything more than what’s being shared here. Your crafty BS sneak link was not expected or needed. 💩 The moderator should have pulled your convo btw - No...

Fast Improvement Training Method for Shot Making

I'm a bit late in the conversation so I apologize for the redundancy. Ray is a good friend, and I appreciate his contribution to this game. I believe that content meant to be should be free from any restraint upon its usage. If anything, he’s sharing intellectual knowledge which is freely...

Thorsten Hohmann - Cue Lab Shot Diagram iOS APP

There’s great intel being shared in this thread. Yes - The mobile interface and modeling are the biggest challenges. I’m more interested in table setup and drawing paths (export) than actual game play. I know that Ai will catch up and offer more modeling tools - Sky is the limit don’t you think?

Thorsten Hohmann - Cue Lab Shot Diagram iOS APP

We have the technology to handle the front-end/back-end development and host services. We're limited by space/layout and startup cost(s). Virtual Pool can integrate with Facebook (Mac) and it has a competitive module. For now, I screenshot and post drills into my notebook. As far as Thorsten’s...

Thorsten Hohmann - Cue Lab Shot Diagram iOS APP

Yeah I agree with that. It’s possible that some mobile developer will figure out how to better integrate Ai technology into making a better diagraming tool. I've used both Virtual Pool and Poolshots, and both are excellent in very limited areas. The biggest limitation is in the mobile...

Thorsten Hohmann - Cue Lab Shot Diagram iOS APP

HI Awhile back I was able to use this amazing tool for plotting out billiard shot patterns. It was an iOS app that has since been removed from the public domain. Can someone help with locating, or recommend another option. Going to their website or the app store is useless.

I see - it still helps to see this topic being discussed. 😀

    GRIP QUESTION

To get a refresher of this topic, we’re talking about the “gap” from the cue stick to the body causing lateral movement during the stroke? I can definitely agree that most of my “mishits” LOL result from cue deflection during the stroke. I know what someone is going to say - “A crooked stroke...

    GRIP QUESTION

Bob Jewett was quoted in an article that's valuable to, and maybe the jewel in the crown. Several months ago I was experiencing some issues with my grip (yes) pressure. I found a couple of threads that talked about the “V” grip, and the importance of pressure through the cue ball contact. I...

    GRIP QUESTION

I prefer to unwrap and wrap during the swing. I don't like to put any pressure on the thumb or forefinger. My forefinger provides touch and feel. Basically, it's a dead finger stroke. I know it works with pitch and chip shots (golf) why not billiards?

    rolling grip/fingers forward

This information is on point. Sometimes I can feel myself adjusting (moving) my stroke hand when I actually should have backed off and moved closer to the table. I'm going to put that into my practice playbook and run through some shots. Moving the wrist up and down that shaft is like eating...

    GRIP QUESTION

This is good intel! Trump being a snooker player would have pressure in the last three fingers right? I feel that the cue is out of alignment when the primary pressure is there, and that impacts speed and consistency. I agree that the primary grip pressure is not pressure but technique. Moving...

AimRight Template and Cut Challenge 101

Of all the billiard tips and exercises available, I've found two (2) resources to be helpful. 1) Ralph Eckart: Structure | the ultimate Billiard Tutorial 2) Brian Crist - Poolology: Mastering the Art of Aiming 3) Ray Balzer: AimRight Training Kit 4) Ray Balzer: Cut Angle Challenge 101 *New...

    Cut Aiming Template

I simply love using the AimRight template, and its complementary software "Angles Challenge 101." Out of the many comments and tips about how to aim - I feel comfortable when I can get the perspective view, drop down on the line, and take the shot. I can use the template on the table as a...

    Eight ball pocketed on carom

Thanks and I appreciate all of the responses. However, in respect to APA/BCA standardized rules it’s hard to cite the rules when you just want to compete the rack. I don’t play APA due to all the SLOP that’s present to keep the game moving. I did look at the BCA standardized rules for...

    Eight ball pocketed on carom

I was confused over how the rule was worded, and deferred to asking someone on another table. I don’t argue over a shot. I missed my chance to get out and lost the game. Thanks for the clarification and support ✅

    Eight ball pocketed on carom

During an 8 Ball match my opponent was on the 8 ball (called shot). My ball was partially blocking the pocket. He pointed to the pocket and caromed the 8 ball off of the other ball. I asked him what rule made that a legally pocketed ball. His reply was that there was a local rule used by one of...
