    Prince...the pool shark?

This is one of those random pool references found out in the world that leaves me saying to myself, "wait...what?" Prince is a pool shark? http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/questlove-prince_us_56a19242e4b0d8cc109992e2

    Cool Home Billiard Rooms

Straight pool sounds a whole lot more appealing than one pocket. Those 4" pockets Mark put on there are really unforgiving.

    Cool Home Billiard Rooms

The canvas prints were fun to pick out. I did that rather than art with glass so that the canvas would suck up some of the echo in the room. I still have a few more stretchers to build and prints to hang to take the rest of the echo out of the room though.

Another Mark Gregory Brunswick Anniversary (with a twist)

Yeah but that one was a little fuzzy. I agree that TAR #1 is a little better than The Hustlers. At the very least, it's better pool and a lot more believable. I think against Grady Mathews, Finnegan gets the 5. :D

Another Mark Gregory Brunswick Anniversary (with a twist)

Yeah, I admit you took most of the rest of the games down. My game will get better. It was almost surreal to be playing pool in that room yesterday. I appreciate you helping me drag that project across the finish line. One of these days I'll just sick the house pro on you and I'll do the...

Another Mark Gregory Brunswick Anniversary (with a twist)

Hmmm...I usually avoid talking money but I would have liked to know some of this when I first started looking into this project so I understand the curiosity. I bought the table for $650 and it cost me about $120 to get it home when factoring in rental truck and gas. It was quite a distance...

Another Mark Gregory Brunswick Anniversary (with a twist)

Well, the woman won two different BCA championships and was on the IPT so I was pretty sure she would be OK with the table in the main room. I write software for a living. Both the renovation and the pool table restoration represent a pretty big stretch of my DIY skills.

    Cool Home Billiard Rooms

There's another thread where I told the whole story but here's my pool room. The room was remodeled and I tore out two walls and put in counters low enough for pool cues to pass over just to fit the table in. The table was a rather involved restoration that Mark Gregory made possible.

Another Mark Gregory Brunswick Anniversary (with a twist)

Warning: I apologize in advance for this being so long. I tried to keep it simple but it's been a very long journey and it's difficult to figure out what to leave out. About 2 years ago, as part of my increasing awareness of pool, I discovered the Brunswick Anniversary pool table and was...

    Custom Anniversary from Mark Gregory

I don't know about other rails or tables but he put Brunswick SuperSpeed cushions on the rails he built for me.

If you won Powerball would you make a pro tour?

No. I'd spend the money developing more family friendly pool environments, working with local clubs and civic organizations around the country on charity tournaments, destination events for league players, local youth leagues, community classes and anything I perceived would increase the...

    Custom Anniversary from Mark Gregory

Not wanting to get involved in the debate over table mechanic versus table maker but... Mark's work is amazing but that's not even close to the only thing that sets him apart from a lot of people in this industry (or many others). Mark honestly cares about the table owners he works with and...

    Tournament players only

Once or twice a year, I'm totally fine with a tournament where someone like Oscar or Shane is going to wipe the table with me. It creates a different kind of pressure and excitement around the event. More often than that would start to get a little old pretty fast.

Get rid of jump cues for Mosconi Cup

Maybe what we need is a DS. (Designated Shooter) That way if you're hooked and can't kick of it, you can just call in your DS. I CALL SHANE!!!! (this is proof that I called him as my DS first)

Get rid of jump cues for Mosconi Cup

Sent you a PM but let's not tell people that scoreboard was classified under "toys and games' instead of "sports equipment" or there will likely an uproar.

    Cues in Cars

Not wanting to kick off a jump cue level religious argument but... It seems like some people experience a lot of impact from temperature and humidity and other players haven't. Is it possible the difference is in how the shaft was made? Is it possible that shafts made from more pieces are...

Get rid of jump cues for Mosconi Cup

Don't let the inexperience fool you. I'm older than you'd think. ;) Damn! Now I want an antique "No Jumping" sign for my home pool room. One more thing to add to the list.

Mobsters (Mafia) that were really into the pool scene?

I believe the same is true for drug dealers. If you're not buying or selling drugs then they are no different than any other opponent. What happens in their "business" has nothing to do with what happens when they are playing pool, even for money. I also assume they don't want to talk about...

    Awesome Match

OK, so this may be a dumb question but... In the first game, when he's on the 9 and the cue ball is against the rail he jacks up a bit. I am assuming that is to hit the cue lower for more of a soft stop shot, preventing it from coming off the side rail as much. (I could be wrong about that)...

    Cues at home

Yeah, I agree that some people take it way too far. I know players with $100 cues who use joint protectors religiously and even wipe the shaft and in the same pool hall have played a guy with a $3k custom cue who barely did any of that. The culture of pool is fascinating though. The way...
