Jayman,
Heres three tooled cases. The one on the left says Brunswick Billiards By George.
The other two say It’s George.
One time when Bill Schick was visiting our home I remember he said
he came up with “It’s George”, slang loosely meaning approval or it is finished.
I don’t know at all if Bill was accurate when he said that,
but I clearly remember him telling me and two others.

This is true, as far as my interviews go. In fact the two builders (Wayne Anderson and Cosmo Gray) had never heard the term before.

Will, you really came with it this time. Those are just fantastic. I like the story that came along as well, That's the kind of thing I hoping to see here,
You just don't come across a lot of them. Thank you for posting pictures.
There have been some great posters here with some great cases, pictures and history lessons. Thank all of you!

Why is your eight-ball on fire?…
Even as those men of the hall mumbled and caressed their sticks of maple, not knowing what was to come; the eighth ball then descendeth from heaven-abode of the gods. And the poolplayers saw that it was good.

I have one with joss cues engraved on the lid. I’ve had it for 30 years . One of the few things I won’t get rid of. Not even sure where I got it this point.
Yeah, I don't have any cases with tooling, but I have the lids engraved on 2 or 3. In 1989 I had Richard Black make me a Led Zeppelin cue, and then called It's George and ordered a case. They arranged for the cap to be engraved with the Zep symbols and my name. Below is a small pic of the cap with my name blurred. After that, a post about the cue from a while back.

...let God weigh me in honest scales and he will know that I am strokeless.

I love it. I never realized how many really unique George cases were hiding out there. A Zeppelin themed case no kidding. Nice! Don't let my Brother see that, He may want to borrow it permanently.

I don't remember the details now, but apparently there was a relatively famous gun (I think guns and not knives) engraver who was getting pretty old and either had a shop next to them or shared space. He's the one who did the engraving on the cap. I don't remember if they told me that when I ordered, or if Mike Wheeler told me later.

Damned if I didn’t find another one. Here is a CRAZY story about this It’s George case and the absolutely matching Ginacue:
I bought the Ginacue from a dear friend who has passed away; got it at the old Executive West during the early days of the Derby.
Ten or more years later I bought the case from someone at the DCC, now at the casino.
Heres the UNBELIEVABLE development:
Later, in my hotel room I decided to clean out the pocket of the case. Crumpled up, as small as notes we would pass to girls in 4th grade, I found a totally folded up piece of junk paper. I almost leaned over to the waste basket and just pitched It.
When I opened it up it was the very ORDER SHEET from Ginacue for MY CUE. Jeepers, a keeper!

That's a cool story. What good fortune! What's that tooled case on the right you posted? Also, how about sharing some pics of tooled Fellini cases? I have a fascination with Fellini cases for some reason. A few years ago, I ran into a guy at the SBE that had a few hundred Fellini cases. Hearing that made me feel better about my comparably mild obsession.

In the old days if someone told you "It's George" and put their hand over their heart then you knew you had a good game or a good bet. Or even better yet a sucker on the line. ;)

The makers of It’s George cases (and cues) tell me they made only 30-40. Toolwork was done by a Richard Grimes, who might still be with us

Also, in case there was a reason to clarify, Mike Roberts didn’t build anything. He was the business mastermind but definitely not the hands-on builder. Wayne Anderson designed and built It’s George Cases for Mike. Wayne recruited Cozmo Gray, and the two not only built the cases, but they went on to build It’s George Cues under the initial tutelage of Bill Schick. Schick had his hands on the first dozen It’s George Cues for their first show, but that was it. There were no It’s George Cues wholly built by Schick, and there were no It’s George Cues built by Schick and Roberts.

Anderson and Gray left and eventually formed Bella Sera Cues. By that time, Mike Wheeler I believe joined It’s George. Today, Marc Palermo builds It’s George Cues.
First I've heard that It's George cues are still being made.

Yep. I’m not sure when Marc acquired the rights, but he’s in Louisiana still making them. No website, but you can get a hold of Marc through Facebook and Facebook messenger.

The famous CORNERMAN tooled case should be displayed.
Unfortunately, my case isn’t a Fellini or an It’s George. It’s a skeleton of a Ron Thomas case spectacularly rebirthed and retooled by LAARA Design (Ligaya Tallo-Purugganan).

Much of the artwork (flying animals, tribal motifs) are based on my tattoos.

Tooled and stamped are very different animals, and even a stamped George's is not all that common.
I wonder what the stamping process looked like..
I happen to have one of these, the early version, curved spokes.. Its wrapped up greased, and covered, Ive used them, I know how to set it up..

its a printing press but these are versatile, its a hand fed machine so it can print on odd stuff that a normal printing press can't handle , ribbons napkins matchbooks for example..
and it can die cut and emboss. gold foil stamp with a heater accessory.. print area of mine is 10 x 14"

it weighs a ton , literally and wont fit in any door I have that is assembled.. I thought maybe one day I'd find some special use for it, custom stuff, not great numbers..

its a treadle machine , I quite liked using them , kind of relaxing work.. but I did watch a couple of guys crush their fingers .
