A little over a year ago I bought a carom cue from Mr. Dieckman and have been enjoying it ever since. I play 3 Cushion whenever I can though I am a pool player first. This year's Derby City Classic also hosted the National 3 Cushion Championships and I had the pleasure of watching America's best battle it out for the title.

My cue is a simple all birdseye maple butt with custom shafts originally tapered to meet Eddie Robin's request. My endorsement is there...I love the cue...but the real proof came when I shared it with some of the National Championship finalists. Sonny Cho picked it up and ran a six immediately. He had high praises for the cue. Bill Johnson also made the finals while using a Dieckman. Other players added their positive remarks.

If you are looking for a serious carom cue that really moves the ball well, or if you fancy a pool cue that plays lights out, contact Mr. Dieckman. He has several cues built and will finish the shafts to match them. I'm hoping he will be at the Hopkins show this year. He's a great cue builder.

Remember we met Dennis last year at the Derby? He was dressed in bib overalls and was playing in the Billiard room.

For about $2500 or so you can live at his house for a week and build your own cue. From what I understand his cues are really great and hard to come by.

Dennis also builds those little trick shot numbers. Especially engineered for masse style shots. They work real well and if you're into that trick shot style competition, they are a must.

Masse Cue

I took a new Dieckman masse cue (all BEM) in trade at the nationals. It is for sale if anyone is interested. Pics available upon request. Send pm please. I played around with it and was amaised at how well it curves the cue.

Dennis is truly a great asset to our cue making industry. He was inducted into the International Cuemakers Hall of Fame and was given his award plaque at the super billiards expo this past weekend. He has such a love for hard to make butterfly cues that he even paid for a lifetime membership to the ICA for a Russian cuemaker. See Gorbenko Andrey on our ICA members site and see the amazing splice work this guy does. I now have a Dieckman cue in my collection also. Well worth the wait.

While surfing japan website I ran across this Dieckman Cue that was auction in Japan. Also just talk with Dieckman, he said two issues of Japan Billiard magazine [Cue] June and September have either picture or an article on him.

Could someone explain to me what a massey cue would consist of??
Modified jump cue with a soft tip?

Cuebux, Before Dieckman, Mike Massey, Jamison Neu, or Dr.Cue [Tom Rossman], there was John [Jack] Mannock read this article http://www.eaba.co.uk/mags/abp/issue6/historicalPotPourri.html

For Artistic Tournament 24ozs, 44", and a 14mm Shaft tip is about standard. Soft, Medium, Hard Leather Tip???? it really up to you.

Search my threads for more Masse Cue Info. Or checkout these Cuebuilders Dieckman http://www.cuemaker.com/dieckmanwrittenwordpqb.htm scroll down page for two articles "Building Masse Cue" part one and part two. Here Dieckman Masse Cue Gallery http://www.cuemaker.com/massegallery.htm

Dieckman slowing down some on cuebuilding. Other Masse Cue builders Crown Cue http://www.crowncues.biz/new.html#masse, Schuler Cue, or BHQ.

"The shaft was parallel for the first 17" from the tip, so that the point of aim would not be deflected by the taper. It was tipped with goat's horn and was about 2/3 the length of an ordinary cue to make it easier to handle in an upright position. The cue proved so popular that Burroughes & Watts took over its manufacture, and with various modifications from the original design, (most noticeably to the length) it was still being produced into the early 1960"s. Still much sought-after by players and collector's alike, a good example of a Mannock cue will currently cost anywhere from ?150 to ?800."

You welcome Cuebux. Masse Cue came before the Jump Cue.

Billiard Players/Pool Players using Dieckman's Masse Cue is like a Who Who List in the Billiard World, as are his Carom Cue in the Carom Billiard World.

I didn't sell the cue. It will go to someone else some day, I'm not a trick shot player, but I'll wait for the right offer or the right home for it to come along.

I drove to Michigan to enjoy a 3 cushion B tournament in August. I asked Dieckman if I could visit and got to enjoy his company for an afternoon. Dieckman was generous with his time and shared a great many things. A better host there is none. I still haven't found the right words to thank him.
