Smelling Salts in billiards?

I'm watching Rocky on the Bravo channel right now, its the fight scene at the end. And a question came to mind. Has anyone ever used smelling salts to keep themselves alert during a marathon billiard match? Seems like a good option to coffee (for those with a weak stomach) or pills.

I am sure you will get some interesting comments and jokes on this.

BTW, I have never seen or heard anyone doing this.

P.S. I have, however, punched frozen meat to get ready for an upcoming tournament!

lol that's funny. Actually if someone was really that tired, it kinda makes sense. I've drank coffee or redbull before and noticed the jitters you get. Smelling salts would kinda be a slap in the face and pay attention lol

Not that I know of!

I have known a few players to use something kinda along the same LINES to keep themselves up and going. It is administered in hte same way:p

Smelling salts will just give you a quick jolt, maybe lasts for a minute, then your back where you were. Johnnyt

Dont they kind of alert you but make you not concentrate as well. I cant remember but I had a few thrown under my nose playing football back in the day. Seems like they wouldnt allow me to concentrate very much.
I wonder if they are still used in football.
Some guys that played with me used to crush some themselves and take
some strong whiffs right before KO coverage. They were the two crazys that would blow up a wedge. "Mule" and "crazy chris" were a coaches dream. Non scholarship guys as well. Just loved to go nuts

considering salts are non addictive, i would imagine that would be a better way to go. of course i'm sure the other option makes you feel a lot better, aside from just more alert.
