finish and roll question

I tried to clean my butt with 99% rubbing alcohol and it had one of those finishes that come off. So the finish is now uneven with fingerprints and off in some places.

Is there a temporary fix or way for me to hand-refinish this as I have some important games in the upcoming weeks? What materials and methods should I use?

Also, there is also a roll in the butt (and knew about) that I want to have fixed, so perhaps I could kill two birds with one stone down the road and leave it at a local cue maker. It appears that the roll in the butt is only near the joint though while the finish is messed up everywhere now. The roll is now exaggerated to the point of lifting up the tip quite a bit, but I think it was caused through shipping it from florida to 20 degree Maryland :\. How much would this cost and how long would it take?

Lastly, I had a question about radial pin squeaking. What should I put on the pin to prevent the squeaking? I see thread marks on the flat part of the radial pin at the top and am considering just putting something at the top of the pin. I have.. mink oil (shoe polish for leather), vasoline, and candle wax.

A little dab of candle wax will take care of the pin.

If the cue is warped near the joint, as opposed to the handle, then the cue is probably not worth repairing unless it has sentimental value. The forearm, joint and pin would need replaced as well as the finish. On a plain forearmed cue this would be more than the cue is probably worth and if there are points or inlays, then, these would need replaced. Either option is going to run somewhere between 400.00 and 1200.00.

There is no easy finish for a cue. You could put on an rubbed oil finish cheaply that will offer some protection but it certainly won't look very good.

Other than replacing tips and cleaning shafts there are very few things that a person, with little knowledge and less equipment, can perform well on a cue.
