Has anyone heard how Crown Cues Recovery doing ? I heard there was a fire close to the area they live at, last week. Plus I know Dieckman was talking about visiting them on his way back to Mich.????

That fire came within a block and a half from the house and the air was so thick with smoke and ash that it was almost impossible to see for a bit. The flames were quite impressive!

Anyway, the house and the make-shift workshop are still standing, thank goodness. The work on removing the last of the tornado-destroyed garage walls and such is probably going to take another two or three weeks, yet.

I believe most of the work going on (other than cues on order) is for the Super Billiards Expo, right now.

Yes, Dieckmann is supposed to visit and everyone's got their fingers crossed that it will be AFTER the Expo, instead of before, due to all the rushing around going on. The house is still a mess and all the extra rooms are full of stuff from the garage. Ran out of space in the storage unit. Even some of the non-electric exercise equipment is in the middle of the back yard.

Anyway, Crown Cues still exists.

Anything I can relay to Gene? He is hard to catch (even for me!) from Monday through Thursday, due to not getting home from his other job until 9 or 9:30 pm.

Don't you guys ever be afraid to jot a note to Gene, if you need to reach him. I'd tell you to call, but he can't really talk on the phone, much. He prefers e-mail contact. He has a few good reasons...

1. He had neck surgery in 2004 and it's rather painful for him to hold the phone for long.

2. He is a little hard of hearing. (Not enough to yell at him... unless you're his wife. ) If you see him face-to-face, it's his left ear that works best, so stay near that side and you're good.

3. He stays so busy that he doesn't always remember what was said on the phone and doesn't like to take a chance on forgetting something on an order.

4. He works such long hours at his regular job, then comes home and goes to the workshop. The phone doesn't get good reception out there and he's not coming in to talk on it.

5. The household hours shift from mornings on a couple of days, to evenings for the next few days, so it's hard to keep up with a time that's best to call.

6. He hates phones.

It's just been easier to handle everything by e-mail. If you ever need to reach him, or you're worried that you've been forgotten, he has no problem with you writing him and checking in. Sometimes, you get the husband, sometimes the wife. But, someone usually replies.

I placed an order with gene for a cue few weeks ago. I think gene and I were talking over the cue design by email for a while, I would get emails from him at like 1 or later in the AM. He is a super nice guy!

That wouldn't matter to Dieckman, he as comfortable sleeping in his van. Mess! Then you haven't been to his house.
You might just wake up one morning and find his van in your front yard.

Was kindly hoping to give Crown Cue another review before Expo. But anything Good is Worth Waiting For. Look like we might be heading for Disney World [original plan for June] instead of Expo.

Hey Bob,

I thought I would post a little teaser for you. I'm hoping to get your cue done a to you before the Expo, but I can't gaurantee it. BWQ-5673.jpg

Working in the little shed has slowed me down a lot. I won't have the space to get re-organized until I get the new building ready.

Boy! Gene this a teaser. This a Masse' cue Gene was starting to build me before all the weather problem. Maybe the teaser is - I reject one cue that was .850 joint and 28 oz, because I wanted his standard .950 joint and a 29 oz Masse' Cue.

Now the teaser got to be is this the reject cue or the # 4001 Masse Cue I'm getting??? [First time I saw any picture] Not fair Gene! Now itching to get my hand on the cue and compare it with my Dieckman Masse Cue.

Crown Cue Masse will be the cue of the future. Too Bad I won't get to see his cues for the Expo.
Gene I hope by summer you get your new workshop!!!

This is the new cue, with my regular masse' joint size.

Gene! The Cue look outstanding, a gem for the crown.
Will you be updating your website before leaving for the Expo. Or is it- just too much other things going on at this time???

Okay. I know there are a couple of things I need to do to the website, but fill me in. Maybe I'm missing something I need to be updating...???

I noted "The ESTIMATOR" program doesn't show Masse Cue on the list. Or did I miss or overlook an area?

Would be nice to show other cues in progress. Correct me, if I'm wrong, but wasn't it mention Gene would have a new design or something for the Expo.

Also without going to the Expo website, you should list your booth number and location on your home page.

My bad. I must have been dreaming that I already responded to this post. Sorry.

Yes, The Estimator needs some updating. I need to get that done. Have been working around the clock a lot of times, trying to get ready for the Expo and figured I'd get that updated afterward, because it requires figuring out where we want some of the changes to take place and working it out with my brother, who makes all the magic happen on that page. I do simple stuff. He does magic.

The new design is probably someone's interpretation of the limited edition cues Gene is working on, to help raise the extra funds needed to rebuild the workshop that was destroyed by the tornado, in December. He is hoping to have a picture of the cue design with him at the Expo and the cues are intended to be finished by December 8th, 2009 -- the 1 year anniversary of the tornado that caused all the destruction. He is expecting to make 10 playing cues and 5 masse' cues, for a total of 15 limited edition cues.

I had thought of listing the booth info on the website and totally forgotten about it, in all the hustle and bustle. Thank you very much for the reminder.

As long as he doesn't mind showing up when two very young grandchildren are in charge of the household and not letting anyone get anything done, then he'll be fine. It would certainly be best if he can give as much as a week's notice before his arrival, so any plans to be keeping the grandchildren can be rearranged and his visit can be truly enjoyed. Of course, there's always the chance he'll just get in line behind Gene and scream with all three of them, as they circle the pool table and the kitchen island, over and over and over. :grin-square:

Seriously, everyone wants to be able to enjoy his visit, when he gets to town. He will be a treasured guest. Gene is hoping to spend some quality time with Dennis and is really looking forward to it.

Lower Level isn't that the ICA section? Look Great. Very disappointed I won't be there as plan!!!

The wood in that cue is beautiful ...Anyone that sees it has to fall in love with it ...

Wow someone else who don't like phones... I thought in this day and age I was the only one that felt that way... My friends often look at me crazy when I tell tham I don't like a phone and the only reason I keep one is so my friends can gat a hold of me alot easier ... Or I can get a quick tip on some action... To me they have always felt like a invasion of my privacy right when I am in the middle of something where I don't want to be interupted the phone rings and if you don't answer it they seem to keep calling back... And most of the time it is just some telemarketer trying to sell something ....
