Best deal in Billiards

I think the best deal in billiards last week was the billiards expo itself. Allan Hopkins runs a great show at what I feel is a great price. I think the prices have been the same for several years. $10 to get into the show to see all the beautiful cues. Even if you are not buying the viewing is great. Even the pro arena was a good deal. Five hours of pros for $10.

I was disappointed that the prices of the vendors seemed to not reflect the recessionary times. The prices offered were the same as those offered in the catalogs. Even the competion between vendors did not drive down the prices.

I felt that the money tables were a little quieter than in previous years, although there were some very big money matches.

kaznj,

You missed the biggest bargain of all. The Super Billiards Expo amatuer events. Where else can you enter a multi-day event, play your matches and then practice for free! If this was the BCAPL, I would have paid nearly $75 for the amount of pool I played over four days. Allen even allowed me to return home with some cash from both events I played in. What a bargain!!!!!

Muellers was price competitively. I agree the plastic rack was a super deal. I always buy most of my items from them. This year I dropped about $300 at their booth.

But, I would think that if you can buy an item for $100 from their catalog that they would offer some show special price since many items are being sold buy several other vendors at the same price. Something like say buy this case at the catalog price and get a free $2 rack. What is the incentive of buying at the show other than you get to see the item in the case. This is just impulse buying.
Look at the two of the three magazines. One had a deal where you get a free DVD if you take a subscription. Another gave a way a shirt. This is why I wait until the show to renew. I know they will give away something. I already had the DVD, but I'll give it away to someone. Maybe next year I'll get something I don't already have.

Here is my take of the SBE!!
I had the best time this year ever!
What a well run pool extravaganza!

I say the action was spread out more and this made things seem less but really there was more, as big action was going on throughout the event if you get me ! JL, Pam,Scooter ,Josh ,SVB ,Hatch, mc creech Etc.

Attendance was better then ever and with about 150 vender's this is the place to be!
The vender's had pro's at their booth's playing you ,talking to you ,or educating you all for free!

The pro arena was great as usual, but Dawn, Allen Jr.& Sr added that women touch with Allison Fisher playing in a cash tournament with the other pro women !

Another unique opportunity to interact with , learn from, photograph them and watch top pro's play on a bar box less then 10' from you was the
Pro-Am event as this was held on the public side of the venue with no extra admission charge!
Appleton,Hatch, McCreech,Matt clatterbuck, Eddie Abraham,Gabe Owen were some of them
all were polite to you and very approachable!

My friend Steve Shaw finished the senior event 5-8Th and we had a great time rooting him on!
I purchased the weekend pass Fri-sat-Sunday for $20

I played against Jeanette Lee sat. night I had a thrill,
yes she is scorching hot and with a great sense of humor!

OK enough ,see ya!
