My husband and I are (98 % sure) driving down to New Orleans on Thursday. We'd like to stop for the night somewhere maybe 2-4 hours from New Orleans. Can anyone suggest a good place to stop? We'd like to play somewhere with good equipment. The route I believe is 65 South to 10 West. Thanks :)

Gulfport

Skeeters in Gulfport,is 1 to 1 1/2 hours from new orleans.I was there a couple of weeks ago for the first time. Its the only place I know of close to that time range from N.O.BUT.I was quite impressed with that place. The food was good and the staff were nice as were the customers that I spoke to.They have a dozen or so 9 fters, Diamonds and Kim-steel.several 7 ft valley and a couple of 7ft diamonds, all well mantained.

Thank you so much; it sounds great. We might not make it that far Thursday but we're going to stay outside NO Friday night and may just go ahead and get down the road a bit and check it out.

Skeeter's is the best place to play pool in Gulfport. Head South down Teagarden Road towards the beach. It'll be on your right as soon as you cross the tracks.

Afterthought: Word of advice, if you decide to go to the beach, don't go in the water.

There are a couple of pool halls in Mobile, Al that you might stop at. I haven't been to any of them in quite a while. Maybe someone can suggest one or two for you to visit.

Thanks! I think I'll post a new thread to hopefully grab the attention of someone from that area (while still keeping an eye on this one).

Haha, thanks :)

We didn't get to play any pool in New Orleans :( We stopped in Mobile and took a day trip to New Orleans the next day, leaving our 4-year-old behind at the hotel with his aunt and Grandma. Our friends got married at the Columns Hotel on St. Charles Ave, and we hung out there outside on the deck mostly, then took the street car up to Zea's for dinner. I'm itching to go back! I definitely did not get enough of New Orleans! But we did play at Runway in Mobile the next day...I was in a foul mood, though, because we'd tried to play at Breakers but weren't allowed because I didn't have my ID :( Stupid Alabama laws ;) But luckily the guy at Runway didn't even ask...We just played a couple of sets and left...no action stories or anything :)
