The Wooden Indian

Hey,

Danny Kirkland was my uncle. He passed in February 2008. He taught me how to shoot in his bar when I was about 13 and used to play me against the drunks late at night. His children still own and operate the bar. Although the tables are kept up, there hasn't been much action, if any. I live in southern Louisiana and make it up a couple of times a year to visit the family. I also have many memories in The Wooden Indian.

Yeah 15-25 yrs. ago that was a " Great Action Spot" for top notch poolplayers, Danny Kirkland was a good stakehorse for players, and he knew exactly how they played, so no funny business went on or you'd be in the Red River.

That was Country Calvins stakehorse mostly, Danny was stakeing Calvin against anyone on the bar box with the big cueball, and getting the cheese most of the time.Calvin played unreal pool back then.

Alot of world class players past thru The Wooden Indian, Danny could play a mean game of 9-ball on the bar box himself with the mud ball, Danny was a millionair and wore "BigSmith Overalls", and went bare footed all the time......lol

Those were the days, I sure do miss um!
