aiming to the inside of the pocket.

I was wondering if some top players aim to the inside of the pocket. or the center, or even outside. just came to mind. thanks for all input in advance.

Players will change the angle slightly by aiming the ball to go in to the the left or right of centre of the pocket. We call this 'cheating the pocket', and it is used for positional purposes.

yes but how about with center ball ? just thought the pocket accepts the ball better by aiming to the long rail side. maybe not, corner pocket's sorry.

You're right; when the object ball is close to the rail you have a slightly bigger target (because of the "mirror" effect of the rail) and the center of this "effective target" is slightly closer to the rail than the center of the pocket opening is - so you can "cheat" your aim a little and get a slightly bigger margin of error.

I don't know how many players (if any) actually do that on purpose. It's most often used when there's another object ball close to the rail blocking the path to the center of the pocket opening.
