BCAPL membership fee will be $15 for the new league year ... which starts June 1

The key piece we are missing here is they are raising the cost by a mere $5/player, but they are asking us to give them ideas for additional events they can run with the money.

hmm, pay $5 and get another BCA event or two that I could play in? Seems pretty simple to me.

It makes CoCo mad because he is one of those guys who doesn't purchase anything at the pool room and is always looking for a handout. If you don't like it, don't play, I'm sure there are others that feel this way as well. Eat one less hamburger this week, problem solved.

You forgot one thing, Jerry. Cowboy doesn't even play in any leagues. He's just trying to start trouble - and succeeding - as usual.

PoolSleuth errrr....... CooCooboloClowboy DOES NOT PLAY IN LEAGUES! He is just trying to stir shit up and bad mouth the BCAPL in any way he can. The guy is a joke.

Lock the window Spide, cause sooner or later you're going to find out it's not $5 per week; it's $5 per YEAR -- that works out to maybe 15 cents per week...

They're paying $5 more per year, not per week?

People are currently paying .19 cents per wk to play. ($10 divided by 52 wks)

The cost of playing is going up .096 cents per wk. ($5 divided by 52 wks)

Now people are going to pay .28 cents per wk to play, have more events, & have a say in those events and people are daring to complain? ($15 divided by 52 wks)

Honestly, I would be embarrassed to admit that I found this upsetting. If the crying about this weren't so absurd, it would be laughable but as it is, all I can do is shake my head.

Okay CC, recession. 5 dollars more a year to be sanctioned, so you can go, GO to events. Events that will cost what? Travel? Lodging?

It's been 12+ years since any increase from the BCA. Can you say the same for any other service you use? Gas for traveling. What was it 12 years ago?

What were lodging costs 12 years ago.

If you can't afford 5 dollars more a year (That's 1.3 cents a day) then paying raising cost of table time may be too much as well. Either hourly, or coin op tables, both are going up.

Even in a recession....

Now.. what are you getting for your 5 extra dollars a year.. New technology being used to bring this sport to more people everywhere to enjoy. More events to go out and enjoy. Higher payouts for those that participate (according to your BCA letter..).

So I guess the choice is yours. Is the extra 5 bucks worth the extra services they're going to provide. It's your call.....

They must be jacking up the prices to cover the cost of cue balls damaged by phenolic tips. LOL! :p

Anyways, if you can't afford $5 PER YEAR you should really look into a new hobby. Maybe this would be more to your liking.

12 years ago you could get a McDonald's Value Meal for $3 and some change. Now it's $6 for the same meal.

Can someone help me post my issue on www.AZFastFood.com.

ps. I don't eat fast food, besides baconators (Thanks Bval)

$5/year increase. Are times that tough in AZ?

We're not even sure he lives in AZ. There hasn't been a confirmation in a long time. My guess is he lives in Washington State, as that is the only time I see somewhat positive posts by CooCoo.

I guess if you are old, retired, grumpy, negative about everything, play pool at the senior center, play 1 or 2 $5 tourneys a year and oh yeah DON'T EVEN PLAY IN THE LEAGUE YOU ARE *****ING ABOUT.

I"ll help you

If you guys can't afford a $5 bump / week in league fees in ANY economy....you can't afford to play pool in general. Sell your cue, case, glove, your goofy league chalk-holder and focus on getting a job that pays more.

Sorry for being a dick... but this is just so damn nitty I feel like throwing my laptop out of my office window right now. .... here come the red reps, oh well.

I gave ya green

This CoCo for Cocoa puffs complains just to complain. Probably gets a thrill out of seeing his words in a medium that reaches more than his eyes?

$5, big deal. My LO has been charging $25 to dual sanction us for years. He takes a $5 handling fee.....so what!

The BCAPL wants to raise the fee by $5. So they put on a great national event and sanction state events, what's $5?

So many pool players are greedy and want everything given to them.

CC keeps referencing the Valley and I just assumed he was an AZ resident.

If not, I apologize to all the wonderful folks and players in that great state.

Woke to this e-mail.

Dear BCA Pool League Operator,

Thank you for your overwhelming support of the 33rd Annual BCAPL National 8-Ball Championships ... known as the “The Greatest Pool Tournament in the World!” We hosted over 6,900 amateur players, 2 televised international pro events, 3 live internet video feeds, and CTS tournament software with live on-line charts (an industry first).

We also want to thank you for sharing your success with us for the 2008/2009 league year. We currently support 60,441 members in 458 leagues, in 46 states, 7 Canadian provinces, the Bahamas, Portugal, and Spain.

We have some great plans for the future of the league. To properly serve your many requests for more and bigger events, the BCAPL membership fee will be $15 for the new league year ... which starts June 1 (next Monday). We wrestled through some long and hard planning sessions before settling on the fee increase. In the end, we listened to our League Operators and to our own mission statement: “More choices for all players.”

The existing fee has been a constant for the last 12 years and the increase will allow us to offer more money and more events for all your players. Now, we need you to step up with suggestions for future tournaments, and ideas for special events. With your input, we can help bring a state or regional event to your area.

Thank you once again, and please forward your questions and suggestions to info@playCSIpool.com or call (702) 719-7665.

CSI ... more choices for all players.

Cowboy, in your original post, the letter from the BCAPL says, "Thank you once again, and please forward your questions and suggestions to info@playCSIpool.com or call (702) 719-7665."

Question: Did you do that before posting, and if so, what was their answer?

Roger

$5?! That's awesome!

I think everyone will be amazed with such a small increase in a YEARLY fee will do for new tournaments or additions to current tournaments!

I am excited!!!

Bring on the new fee!

i say if you can't cover the whopping five bucks you've got no business in the pool hall in the first place. i know it's a bad economic situation right now but seriously if a 5 buck increase gets you this riled up you might want to reconsider your budget. i think we pay 20 yearly here in GA. and i pay 25 yearly for apa. i play on 4 apa teams @ 9 bucks a team every match i play plus 10 a match for the one bca team i'm on. i usually play in a 12 dollar entry fee 9 ball tourney at least twice a month and none of that money covers food or drink at the pool halls. five bucks is nothing to belong to an organization like the bca. especially since they pay out higher percentages. i won enough in my local bca end of session tournamnet to cover just about everything i spent in the entire session, including the yearly fee. the five bucks translates to what? i don't think there is much to complain about.
