This is the FIRST National/International one pocket tournament that I know of that started on a FRIDAY in YEARS. Amateurs like you and I can get in our hits over the weekend and be gone by Monday morning if we choose to.

I really love the idea that the one pocket starts on a Friday. It frees up the weekend quite nicely.

How many days the one pocket matches last depends entirely upon how many people show up. I recall reading something that said that the matches wouldn't be held up to stretch out the tournament but that the finals would occur on one particular day. Now the promoters have shown the one pocket event a little grace.

The Men's Ten Ball starts on Wednesday, the 16th, which means to me that the one pocket will most likely be wrapped up by Tuesday except for the One Pocket finals on Thursday the 17th.

Well, that sounds pretty promising. I suspect they'll get 125 1P players max. So they should be able to get through that field pretty steadily. I suppose it'll also depend upon how many tables they allocate to the women's 9-ball event.

It's my understanding that a significant protion of the entry fees is going to charity. That is all well and good. But, since the players are the ones donating it, shouldn't they know just what charities they are donating too?? (they may not want to!)

I thought the chat was very confusing and cluttered. Hard to follow. It did make it sound like a portion of the payouts are going to charity. They are NOT. A portion of the Players Auction money IS going to charity.

Frankly, I'm VERY confused on just how their auction will work. It's completely different from anything that I've seen. I know one thing........if only the players and the charity can benefit from the auction, it won't be very big.

Hi Neil,

Ray is correct.

No portion of ANY entry fees will be going to charity.

ALL ENTRY FEES WILL BE PAID BACK TO THE PLAYERS.

The talk about a possible player's auction is where the discussion was about a portion of the Player's Auction that would go to the local charities to help Galveston get back on their feet.

If anyone would like to support the tournament they can download the flyer. One of them is a high resolution flyer (11 meg) and it is BEAUTIFUL. I typeset and design marketing brochures and I have to admit being a little jealous of the nice layout on the HI-RES flyer.

It prints to an 8 1/2 " x 14" sheet of paper. In full color it really looks nice. I'm going to print up a couple and bring them to my local pool room.
