We will have to cancell The 21st Annual Pete Sinkler 14-1 Invitational Again this year, Times here at the Pool Room are almost unbearable and if something in the economy doesn`t break real soon this 30 yr old room in Thorndale Pa will be done. Plus there are No funds to replace the cloth, people just aren`t playing enough pool now.

Specials, BYOB daily and still no business.

The Landlord has been good so far but that wont last much longer as I just can`t pay the rent in full every month.

I know the players always looked forward to Petes Tournament every year.

So until you hear different it is officially Cancelled for now.

Sorry Folks Im really Down and totally embarrassed about this.

Mickey, I'm really sorry to hear this news.
I hope things turn around for you very soon.

Mickey,

Danny and I are so sorry to hear this. Not even so much about the pool tournament but more out of concern for you and the room. I really hope things turn around. No one deserves it more.

Thanks Steve, im on what I call the 90 day plan, No matter how much farther I can make it, I still have 90 days before I get tossed out. I havent given up but its so hard to keep going.

Thank you Rich, I pray every day for the big turn around, it`s up to the landlord on how far he`ll let me go.

Sorry to hear the news. :(

I hope it picks up as the weather will start to cool soon.

Good luck buddy

have you tried "ladies shoot for free". a pool hall full of women will bring in the guys. also try, free pool during the daytime to bring in the serious players. alcohol sales are the only way to stay afloat for a pool hall. offer drink specials and put a banner out on the roadway to this effect.

Done all that except alcohol sales, I have byob.

Im practically giving the place away and they still don`t come and play, if it wasn`t for a few regulars I would have been closed already.

Hey Houseman,

Write a letter to Tiger Woods explaining your dilemma. He is going to win the PGA Championship today for another million or so. He could easily donate $10,000-$25,000 or even $100,000 from his take. That would be diddly squat for him. You would need to explain how much the players in your immediate area need a place to play. I know that west of your location, the next poolroom would be across the Susquehanna River. And that would be Joel's place in Mechanicsburg, which is not a player's room. From there, I think you would have to go all the way to Johnstown, at Mulley's. That's 150 miles or more. There are no more rooms in Reading or Harrisburg or Lancaster or York. Yeah, East of you is Frazier, Classic, Markley, Boothwyn and Drexeline. But that's about it. I don't know of anything in Northern Delaware anymore. The same for Northern Maryland. They are all gone.

Somehow, the kids have got to find their way into the rooms or else we're staring at a dead sport. (At least it seems that way here in the Mid-Atlantic. There isn't any fresh blood gaining interest in playing some pool.)

So, ask the Tiger!!! He can do it!!!

Tiger could care less about pool, I bet he don`t even play.

but a grand idea.
Its tough around this whole area, I have no kids that have any real interest in pool, I try to help them out and they look at me like im crazy or something.

Some of them have the natural ability but don`t want to take the time needed to get better, they just play an hour and go do something else. They don`t even seem all that interested in the lovely girls they bring in. All they do is sit and text on the darn cell phones.

I am so sorry. I will have to rescind that statement about Tiger. The poor guy couldn't beg a putt to drop on Sunday. He needs to start hanging out at the local poolroom to learn how to whine better. And what is it with all of these compliments about how well the other guy played? I mean. Come on Tiger. The knee has got to be broken or something. Let's hear a good excuse. I thought Tiger becoming a partner in a poolroom would be a good idea, but it appears he wouldn't cut it. What is that, shaking the guys hand. He didn't deserve it. You were robbed. Listen up Tiger, stop by your local poolroom for a couple hours. You really need to learn to to make up some good excuses. Your the best. You don't lose. You've got to let everyone know that Steve was using a wet towell to wipe your clubs off after those bad shots. Doesn't Strickland live down there in the south near where you are? He might be helpful.

As for the poolroom dilema, can we at least make an inquiry to Floyd Mayweather Jr.?

why do you have BYOB? get a liquor license. that's where a pool hall makes money. the tables are just there to bring in drinkers.

Way way to much money for a license, and Im not sure if its even allowed in a pool room in my state.
