Rail replacement help.....

Hello, I'm replacing the rubber on my GC and when I pulled off the original rail rubber there is quit a bit of excess glue on the wood along with some of the rail fabric. What do you guys use to remove this? Do you sand it lightly or do you use some kind of chemical to cut it down?

a couple coats of adhesive remover should do the trick. then sand.
