There was a member not too long ago looking for some mid 80's model Helmstetter. I have forgotten his handle.

If you are there, heres an older Helmstetter someone is selling on ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280391882516&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

For anyone interested, here's another (a 97-12, which is the same one I've got) from the same seller:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=370253727261&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

Edit for clarity, these are not my cues, nor anyone I know. In fact, I may try to buy the 97-12 myself.

I saw these earlier yesterday. Just an FYI...97-12 is the model #, and does not mean the 12th cue made in 1997. Both of these cues were production # models...and not those that were made by Richard Helsmstetter in his early years.

I would suggest you contact Craig (manwon) as he is a virtual wealth of information concerning these older Helmstetter production cues. He can explain it much better than myself, and may be able to tell you when each model cue was actually made.

I play with a 97-12, and I THINK it was made in 1997 (not positive).
I also know when I bought it, it was the 12th model or design in the "97" series. I believe there were 17 designs in that series.

You are right about Craig, he is definitely a wealth of info on these cues.

Yes, you are correct. My point was that the seller doesn't have a clue as to what they're talking about, with regards to the model #'s...instead choosing to represent it as the 12th cue made in 1997.

I have an all original 86-06 that you couldn't get me to part with...these older Helmstetters can be some pretty sporty players.

I really like the way my Helmstetter plays too. I always wind up going back to it no matter what else I have to play with.
