flagged on CL

I check craigslist occasionally for buying and I sell used tables on there too,the one thing I have never done til this past weekend was place an ad on there for any type of service work. I placed a small ad with the basic recloth, recushion, new and used table installs,my website and phone number and it took all of one day to be flagged from there.

I placed 4-5 ads in all the cities within 60 miles of me,not every CL site in all the states around me like I see others doing on there. How did I get flagged? Did CL do it? Did someone else who advertises on there do it to me? How can they flood CL with thier ads and I get flagged in one day.Do I have to pay to advertise on there ?

Try using a different email. CL is very strange sometimes, or someone has a problem with your listing. I would really just keep on trying to post it, sometimes it was simply a fluke.

If you placed more than 1 ad CL will sometimes flag you for over posting or what they call spamming. You can also get flagged by a competetor, someone you may have pissed off... Or anyone for no reason. It's a screwed up system IMO... It may help if you register and log in. Good Luck!

I see ads for table services all the time on the list but after just checking I found out that that type of ad is subject to flagging by anyone (including competitors) because it's supposed to be listed under "services" and not items for sale. I know that doesn't help you out and like they said above, someone could have flagged you for other reasons. Like they said, it can be a screwed up system at times. Hope it gets better for Ya.

Thanks for the replies. Hmmm, I will try again and re-post the same ad, maybe I did it wrong? If it gets flagged again I will again re-post and re-word so that my phone rings all day long.:groucho:

craigslist in my area is also misused. basically it self police which means that your competition is flagging you and once you get so many flags your post is removed. somebody can post a ad every hour and flag all his competition and dominate the craigslist market. I didn't have time to flag and post all day and ended up never using it.

Craigslist can be a bit tricky. I post constantly and have for years. Sometimes it's competitors but it can be craigslist flagging you. Totally reword your ads for each area. Try changing your IP address periodically (say, weekly maybe) there are ways to outsmart CL. Just have to be creative. I've been at it for a long time. It can be frustrating but just be persistent. Good luck!
