Update on the Des Moines pool scene

Everyone is always on their best behavior when Randy is in town...why is that? Inquiring minds(me) want to know.
Hmmm, I wonder why they would be on their best behavior?? They party all week and then look good for Randy when he is here. I heard Des is quitting! That's funny stuff right there :)

Don't know if you guys saw this, but Rory Hendrickson is playing the US Open. They will let anyone in, that's for sure :) Just kidding!! Good luck Rory!!

A cue and the entry fee and I'm pretty sure you can play in the US Open. AND The cue is probably negotiable.

Come to think of it, not very many tournaments that can't be applied to IMO.

My apologies to Rory, as I saw him listed but missed him when I posted earlier. I hope the midwest has a good showing.

I highly doubt the Midwest is gonna do anything in the US Open. Unless SVB and Gabe count as the Midwest. Demi plays great IMO but if he plays his ass off he finished in 33rd or so, plus I looked at his draw...not a very friendly first match!

Shoutout to my buddy Keith Bennett for beating Oliver Ortmann first round in the US Open. Hands still full with Jerry Calderon, then prob The Korean Dragon. He got a tough draw this year but he's had tougher and made it pretty deep. Gotta root for the Fayetteville guys, good luck to Mike Davis too.

I would claim SVB and Gabe as Mid-westerners. Every match is a tough match at the open, isn't it? Except for Cory Duel and his 11-0 first round drubbing of 'some guy'. 11-0 - thanks for playing and see you on the B side.

$600 seems pretty steep for tournament.

I am a little disappointed in them not being full and turning away players (Morra) even if he wasn't on-time(or whatever) Figured that another $600 is better than a bye.

FWIW

We won 4-1 last night against Bruce, Brad, Geoff, and Brian's team. I cheerleaded. It was a lot closer then the score showed. The last game was worth two points. Brad whiffed a break, and the gust of wind almost knocked my drink over. Some pretty good shooting by both teams. Brad barked at me to play then (as expected), and I politely declined. Like I said...about 3-4 weeks. It is pretty obvious he expects to rob me with the 7 ball so I may have to go with the 6 to make it a match and adjust on the spot on a set to set basis. Pet and I played one set scotch doubles with Brad and Geoff and we lost 7-3. Pet and I both missed an eight ball. A couple of misses and it is a 3 game swing easily. That was probably the first time I have gambled for $50 a person in about 5 years.

I am not going to lie...it makes me hungry.

I would rather not talk about it........ Lol. No, it was a fun night and everyone played well. I missed two balls and lost three of my four games. Now, Brian on the other hand ran out three of his four games! I think he was a little upset that my power average was bigger......I guess he took care of that!

Brian ran out twice. I know because I shot a 3 ball like a toddler and ruined an easy break and run and then he proceeded to get out like trout, when you catch one:wink:! I know how you feel Bruce I missed 2 balls and miscued(against you!) and boom 22 point night.

I just want to say that was an amazing match. I mean Jody literally shot once! He broke and ran the first one, scratched on his second break. Then got broke and ran on twice! Grand total of 12 balls. I told Jody that Neo would not have allowed that to happen.

If your name was Athens, Pet, or Paul though their mojo alone was like aggressive sharking. They got to miss and miss and still pull their games out. Meanwhile there were about 4 of us between both teams that if we sneezed wrong the other guy makes a tough out. I think I'm gonna play in a Jason mask and see if that's good for an extra shot here and there.

GOOOD MATCH YALL!

P.S. I'm still leading the league in ERO's, pack your sneak-a-toke and light it up with that!

Demi Jelatis beat Marcus Chamat from Sweden in the Open, very good win. One of the best money players in the world. Good job Demi.

Who told Jason Klatt he had a chance to win? He beat Sammy Monday and Thorsten Hohmann no sweat. He's got the draw to make a deep run.

Keith Bennett still truckin along with Mike Fuller. Mike Davis seems to have hit a stumbling block.

I wish I could sit at home and sweat the US Open...nice thing about when I lived in NC, we'd just take the 2.5-3 hr drive and go watch it!

I would think it is kinda like the DCC -- If you're going to go, why not play? Yeah, $600 for the open is steep, but even 0-2 - it's an experience!

And then you can watch the great matches...

Eh, what i wanted to talk about i guess isn't gonna happen so no need to bring it up.

Jamie and jody played today race to 7 for $50, jody ended up 1 set winner.

Unfortunately I have to agree Jason, it just isn't gonna happen. Is it Jamie Vs. Jody round 2 today? Jody called me last night and said Jamie freaked out on him but he'll keep playing because he had to go to work and wasn't trying to quit up a set.

Races to 7 I think are as comfy a game as Jody can get. He's at home playin those for sure.

Is anyone else following the US Open right now?? What the hell happened yesterday, my goodness. Archer loses to Karl Boyes. My man Keith Bennett whoops the Korean Dragon. Bartram still rolling. Demi Jelatis still winners side playing Manalo today. I read the story on AZ and looked at the brackets and was totally shocked. Darryl Peach lost to Rafael, which is good for Earl. I'm really rooting for Earl to make a deep deep run. Only person I have ever seen runout multiple sets is Earl. Always will be my fav player.

Neo, needs a haircut...the mohawk was pretty high up from what I saw on Monday distracting to both teams. No wonder his opponents broke and ran on him twice....keep him off the table. Let me know how round two goes tonight if it happens.

I'll be biting my tongue for the moment about what happened til i talk to jamie and get exact details on a couple things i heard while at dogs at 3 am last night. For now lets just say thats not the whole story. -- weird.
