In Regards to "Best Hustle"

I didn't post this classic in his thread, because somehow I believe making a friend and dumping him is classless. A hustle or getting taken holds different value to me. I've been "got." But, if one of my friends gets me, God help them. Dumping anyone's money is classless, unless you actually HATE that person. Even then, I wouldn't befriend them to dump'em. They'd almost know I was doing it. So, yes, fu#$ers I have done it once. To a guy that everyone I know hates, and I didn't "Buddy up" with him to do it. Hell, I'd just beat him outta $300 when he begged me to play the guy. We'd almost fought while we were playing.

Anyway, I used to work with a time critical courier as a regional manager. This had its perks. Company gas, hotel, food card and all the travel I wanted. See? Perfect for a wannabe. Anyway, it's no secret I'm not a champion. But... it takes a good player to beat me, and I've definitely knocked a few off that I wasn't supposed to. So, here we go.....

Kingsport, TN. I was there to interview and hire two new drivers. So, I would be there from Wednesday through Saturday morning. Well, lot of playing time was to be had. So, I made a few phone calls and got the line on a little bar that the owner, Ed, was a known go off. But, he can play a little. About the seven under me was the line. Barbox by Go#. Barbox, gotta love'em. There are also three players that hang there that play a ball or so under Ed. Perfect!

On Wednesday night, I am in a tie. I have no cue. (My Omen was in the trunk). I commence to use the "I used to play, and paid my way through college back in the day." I actually used this line to promote the "idiotness." They were all over me. I lost a total of $200 both Wednesday and Thursday night combined. They were having a ball beating my brains out. I told them that if I got my mixture right, and had my cue, they could all get the eight. (And meant it. Stealing that way, too.) They were really laughing at me and telling me to "come on back anytime." With my ego, this was really hard for me to take that sh#$. So, I promised that I got paid on Friday and I'd be back if they would bet it up. First, they didn't believe I'd be back. Second, they were begging me to hurry. "College huh? Bullshit! You can't make a ball into the Pacific Ocean."

Friday, I show up in casual clothes with three shots of Jager in me, and a pocket full. Cue with me, I tell them not to play. "But if you want to, I'll play any of you for $500. But, you SHOULD NOT PLAY. I'm not kidding." Hell, they couldn't get the money up fast enough. Six ahead for five hundred took almost no time. After I broke and ran out the first game, they guy they put in the box was shaking so bad, you could see it by his shirt. "Again?" Well, Ed the owner was called. He shows up and wants to bet a thousand. "You got me. Eight ahead?" "Agreed."

About an hour and a half later, I was offering him the eight. "No, you got us. That's it. You did good. Really laid it down right. Now, leave."
"Now I guess I gotta go. Gotta go find the Pacific Ocean. Later on Ed."
"See ya, and I'll put the word out on you. No more good action for you around here."

He wasn't kidding either. I bet I went to three poolrooms and five bars and not a soul would even talk about playing, until somebody told me they'd get Larry Price to come down. "Sure, I'll be right back. Go ahead and call him." (Yeah right. With the right spot)
