What to buy?

To take a little heat off of the "cue maker questions" and "touch up points" threads I thought I would get some opinions on my next major purchase for my shop.

Here is what I am considering for my shop (in no particular order):
1. Leather wrap set up
2. Add thread cutting capability to my lathe
3. Carbide sanding mandrels
4. Coring gun drill
5. ????????

So, whether you have any or all of the above, what would you buy?

Thanks and Regards,
Stoney

Although I can and do buy shop equipment and supplies throughout the year I normally make any major purchases sometime between Oct/Jan. A major purchase does not necessarily mean big bucks but rather something that will have a big impact on the what or the why I do things. I'm not talking about replacement items as I am not to the point where I have worn anything out yet. Just new or new/used equipment.

For example I do not currently do leather wraps but it is a future feature I would like to be able to offer. So one of the items I am considering purchasing is a leather wrap setup. Another thing is the ability to cut threads on my lathe. Cost wise this is probably the most expensive thing to buy but, for me, is something I really feel would help in my cue building.

So, my question is: What one or two equipment purchases would you make to add to the functionality of your shop? Anything goes, whether it be a lathe, bandsaw, planer, sander, sprayer, saw tapering setup or whatever.

Thanks and Regards,

i assume you have a cue lathe because u cant cut threads.i have a hightower and a metal lathe. love them both.dont really need to cut threads to build cues so i would say planer.i love mine .great for points.then bandsaw.but its what you need the most right now.good luck

Mill

I'd like to have a small mill that I could dedicate to cutting points into forearms. I do them on my Hightower lathe but a dedicated mill would be nice so I could use some of Lee's recut fixtures for doing different things.

Would a manual Taig mill work for this or is it too small?

I'd also like to have a small drum sander...why the hell are those things so pricey?
