When I'm normally shooting (not breaking) I always try to keep my head still while down on a shot, all the way through to follow-through.
I feel that my accuracy is pretty good doing this. I've found that when I've missed a shot often times I moved my head somewhat, diminishing my accuracy.
Btw, I pot balls looking at the object ball last. (point coming...)
Now, recently I've tried something new with my break. I used to look at the object ball last and I could not control the rock very well. But a friend
(very strong player) suggested I look at the cue ball last. I started this and my accuracy on the break has increased significantly. And my timing
improved as well. I still need to work with it but I like the results so far.
I don't keep my head still during the break. I think most are like me. Trying to get a little more power into the break by moving the body
differently than when shooting a normal shot. Thus moving the head as well.
So here's what my personal analysis is:
Before: My break accuracy was not that good because I was looking at the OB last. Accuracy dropped because of the head movement
and focus being on the OB.
After: My break accuracy is better because I'm looking at the CB last and the head movement does not negatively affect accuracy as much
because my immediate target is right in front of me... I'm no longer aiming at a secondary target (the OB).
Your thoughts?
Oh... I'm also curious how many of you are "CB last" or "OB last" breakers?

All the best.
