Schuler Custom Cue - Idea of Value

New to the forum and looking to get some opinions. I haven't been playing and am thinking of putting this cue up for sale and was hoping to get some opinions on the approximate value of this cue.

History of the cue:

This cue was built by Ray for me in April 2000. I visited Ray at his shop in Palatine, IL and discussed with him the building of a one of a kind custom cue. After meeting with him, I went home and created the design of this cue and sent the drawing to Ray. He agreed to create this cue to my specs.

The cue is constructed of Bird's eye maple, cocobola and ebony.
It has 6 floating points - 3 cocobola and 3 ebony.
I have two Schuler Pro Taper Shafts.

This cue contains 33 GENUINE IVORY inlays

When this cue was finished, Ray called me and stated that he like it so much that he wanted to make a few additional cues based on the design - BUT with a few changes - so mine remained a one of a kind.

The last picture is of a flyer from schuler cues that shows a few of the variations that he created based on my design.

I still have the original receipt and hand written note from Ray dated 4/13/00.

The pictures don't due this cue justice.

As mentioned before, this cue was built for me and has never been offered for sale before.

Thanks for your help

As I understand it, David Jacoby is currently building Schuler cues. A fancy model like yours will have a high replacement price. I would try to establish value by pricing the most similar replacement available, then add a premium for the fact that it is a pre-legacy cue with documentation.

That being said, I have seen many Schuler cues sell for less than their replacement value. I bet the price on what you have approached 2K when it was ordered. I would expect the best offer today to be less than half that. Some cues bring all the cash; hopefully yours is among them.

Schuler Cue

Really a nice Schuler and worth a lot to anyone looking for a fancier original Ray Schuler cue.
I agree with 2K.
Right now especially on this forum, isn't the best time or place to sell this cue but you don't see these very often.
In certain circles this cue would bring quite a bit...JMO

Thanks

Drawman623 and Cuesblues - thanks for the replies and information.

I appreciate your opinions - now if i could just find that circle of buyers you mentioned, then I'd have to think about selling it.

It is a rather unique piece so I am really in no hurry to part with it, was just curious.

Thanks again

Nice Schuler, I like the look.
FYI be aware that the cue market is way down. And Schuler's even though they play good, aren't some of the more sought after. I currently have 4 slc's and 2 originals that I got from Ray and they aren't worth near what I paid for them. You've got the receipt and you know what you paid. I could be wrong but I think you'll get considerably less then you want if you decide to sell it.

They are out there.
