Streaming video, the future?

I have been watching some of the feeds and am surprised at the quality it is now. I think the future of this is unlimited. I can easily see something like say a match game being streamed and pulling a 100,000 or more world wide or a million who knows. At say $5.95 that is real money. American Idol makes millions with the down loads that are only like $.99. The old joke of how to make a million dollars may have come true.
"Find something you can buy for a dollar and sell for two, then find a million people who want it.

The record industry has been doing it for years. A cheap item that millions want. Pool may not even remotely have that kind of market but even within it's own subculture for the first time in it's history a future may be in sight. I really don't think this is "Pie in the sky" thinking. The streaming just has to be a little better but it is certainly getting there.

No doubt. Accessible options and the quality of service delivery will continue to increase for the foreseeable future. You will no longer "watch" TV, you will configure it to your liking, and watch it through whatever device. This is why traditional broadcast programming is being turned inside out. There will always be a demand for high-quality productions, but more and more people will be able to deliver it, without having a multi-million dollar production studio. And more and more consumers will be able to access the specific content they are interested in - so entertainment will become much more diverse. Say goodbye to the "Disney formula" and its kind.

I saw an interview with Steven Spielburg a few years ago where he discussed the future of movies. He talked about making movies and everything done in-house. You make the movie and release it over the internet. No more 50% splits with theaters and distributors. You do it all yourself. He gave a hypothetical. You release a movie world wide all at once. You can have tens of millions of viewers and take in hundreds of millions of dollars almost over night. Even for a small independent film maker they could make the kind of money you used to have to be a big studio to make. He sees this as the future of film making and how people will get the product. AND, you make all the money. Now imagine what can be done with pool.
