Tipping is: a voluntary extra payment made to certain service sector workers in addition to the advertised price of the transaction.

This got me wondering, who tips and who gets tipped?

When you go practice, play in a tournament, or travel to a tournament, who are the people that receive your 'voluntary extra payment?'

I always tip the maids. IMO, they work harder than anyone else in the hotel and don't get paid very much in comparison.

One person I never tip is the taxi stand attendant, they generally just wave at the next cab waiting in line. The cab driver gets a tip though if he doesn't take me all over bumble**** to get there. No tip if he stays on the LV strip for more than one traffic light.

I'm pretty sure he meant the person who works at the counter who you get the balls from at a pool hall. I only ever tip them if they stay open longer for action.

i will usually always tip a server or bartender based on the level of service i receive. i have also left as little as a quarter and penny when i thought the service was really bad due to poor attitude of the server. some servers seems to have the idea that a gratuity is an entitlement.

Interesting thread, Samm...tipping is always a confusing subject for me. But yeah, I leave a tip for the maid...damned hard work for the usual minimum wage. Ditto waitresses and others who depend on tips to make it.

My usual is 20%...if service is good. If not good? Well, I still tip...but then ony 10%...
