The other thread I started about our New Headstock rapidly turned into a slam fest between various members. Can we keep this one just for discussion on the headstock or the Mid Size lathe?

We now are offering a New Mid Size lathe with Large Bore Headstock.
The lathe is $1595
With Taper Bars, Power Feed, Router and 60 degree live center added $2450.
If you already have a Mid Size Cue Smith and want to upgrade to the larger bore headstock the price is $325 including motor pulley and belt.
We have been working on this project all year and have taken our time and done it right.
These headstocks have our triple bearing set up just like our Deluxe, but in a compact single chuck version. This is a true one piece headstock that is bored on the same fixture as the smaller headstocks. It will replace any Taig headstock also. If you do not have a Mid Size already and need the 3/4 HP motor to go with it the cost is $525 total.

I am giving free shipping on these in the lower 48 states to AZ members until August 15th.

I also have matching steady rest that match the larger collets. I figured since it had the 1.4 bore that it would be nice to have the 1.378" bore stead rest that is bored dead in line with it. The price is $95 for the steady rest and $75 for the 10 collets.

The motor you are offering is the same that already came with the Mid-Size lathe right?

Yes that is correct. So if you already have a Mid Size you can just move your motor right over on it and change the pulley on your motor to accept the larger belt.
 
If I add a riser block under the headstock it would be the same height as the new tailstock.

I got the large bore headstock and replaced my smaller Taig headstock. Even for mechanically challenged idiot like me, it was a relatively simple task. It seems to same height as my previous headstock

Now I gotta learn how to cut ring billets since I got an index!!!

You need a router and 1/8" collet adapter for your machine and cutting slots will be a breeze. A power feed also helps, but is not neccessary. I am glad the headstock is working out for you.
 
would you happen to have a spindle pulley for this without the large belt grove????

Your machine is at least 17 years old. The only real effective way to use the new headstock on that machine is to get it with the new variable speed motor.
We could send it with a different motor pulley, but it would only be a single speed headstock then.
That lathe can handle pretty much any fixtures we make with a few mods, but is it worth investing a bunch of dollars into that old of a machine?
