Just finished up changing Bearings on my Porper Model B and it was much easier than I thought and I got great support from Don at Creative Inventions. I had a scoring on my spindle from the bad rear bearing and I reset the new bearing with red threadlock...anyway the good news... 1/2 thousands on my front chuck which is a Bison and I got one of the aftermarket sleeves and rear Taig chuck and its running at 1/4 thouisands. I was running 3 thousands b4 the bearing replacement so I am just about hit the floor when I put on the dial indicator after I got it back together. I am pumped and amped now.

Good job, bet it was a bit noisey before you changed the bearing. Did you do anything to the worn spot on the spindle?

Noisy is a good description. As for the worn spot, I got the spindle thru my front bearing, sprayed activator on my scoring, placed about a 1/16th inch bead of red threadlock on my spindle right B4 the scoring and passed the spindle thru the rear bearring. As it passed thru the bearing the threadlock filled the scoring and I ended up with a very small amount of threadlock that passed thru the bearing but the amount was very consistent around the bearing and I simply wiped off the excess. Worked slick and it spins great now.
