Pattern Racking

When playing rack your own one pocket I always put the 1, 3, 5 up front. If I am racking for my opponent I put the 1, 6, 7 up front. For some reason or another I haven't noticed any difference in winning % either way :(

What diff does it make \? I like the 1 up front and a stripe behind it I think I see it better but other than that it makes no diff.

He made the wing ball 81 times out of 83 or something like that. As long as your aloud to rack your own and move the rack forward or back on the spot you can make the wing ball on most tables .

Pattern racking is just the beginning of the rack manipulation. Every effort should be made to negate all logic and advantage gained as a result of all rack manipulation. Our favorite pool games would be much better off without the chicanery. It can be done very easily.

Absolutley correct!

Just throw the damn balls randomly in the rack and play. Unless someone breaks and runs the set on me ultimately I determine if I win or lose based on my own skill.

thats bullcrap

Just for the record for anyone that doesn't know- For someone who plays my speed pattern racking or not pattern racking really doesn't make much difference on how many racks I would run in a row. If 9 balls are out in the open it makes no difference what order out in the open they are. Well it might help out like 1 or 2 % but that's it.

If you would play on your own table with say just for instance Jay Helfert racking for both players and bet 5 or 10 grand there would be players waiting in line to take your cash, that will not even think about playing rack your own with you in my opinion.--Leonard

If you want a list I'll name a few

Which, Leonard, is quite common to have a 3rd party rack when 2 players are playing for that much money, as well as having a 3rd agreed upon party hold the money until the match is over.

(And, is Donny playing on 9 footers or 7 footers?)

Besides archer, svb, and hatch is there 7 of them? Can I play all 7 one after the other?

Robb Saez offered to play ya $200 a game at diamonds awhile back and I didnt see ya match up!

Lol ill tell em sir. I'm in a really generous mood today. Bring him over and ill give him the 9 playing 10ball. No talking through out the whole match. I played the race to 100 and never said 1 word.

Can someone tell me the meaning of Donnies reply to my question? What were the numbers he added to the post? I have no problem posting no show money to anyone we agree on. I don't understand his response, someone wake me up!

Translation for Exoldskoolpro:

`` Sir, besides Johnny Archer, Shane v Boening and Dennis Hatch, are there seven people that would be willing to play? If so, can you have them submit their applications so that I may play all of them, one after the other?`` :sorry::o:p

Lets see Busty, Alex, Mika, Superman, Orcullo, Schmidt, Stevie, Corteza, Yang, Manola, Nevel and the three you said plus at least ten more european and pinoy top guns.--Leonard

im actually glad this got brought up. i mean to me it makes as much sense to try and get a completely random rack in one pocket (ie no sense). someone could argue "that's unfair, i cant see the contrast between the first 2 balls." yet all you'd be really doing here is opening up a huge (and very annoying) can of worms.

i appreciate the op's sentiment and effort, yet i still think THE PROBLEM LIES WITH THE MENTALITY OF THE PLAYERS. people cant STAND not being able to get to the table. we need to get over it, put up with players playing good, and even congratulate them when they do (i know, i may be asking too much from pool players on that last request). after all, isn't what our whole sport is about is playing good? i dont care what anybody does, if somebody sits his opponent down rack after rack he is playing well, and deserves the win.

if somebody sits his opponent down rack after rack he is playing well, and deserves the win.

This is the structure of many video games (PacMan, Asteroids, Space Invaders and hundreds of others). This is not the template for any successful sport that I am aware of. Lopsided play generates disinterest. Pool needs to find ways to make the competition better and needs to be better if it wants better results in the marketplace.

Perfect pool becomes boring (like playing a video game perfectly). Good competition is always exciting.

As long as the 1-ball racks in front 9-ball will be too easy for good players and too boring for the non-mainstream fans to hold intrest. Just play 10-ball at the open level. I dodn't get why they don't play 15-ball rotation at some of the open tournaments. After all the idea is for the best player to win w/o the chance to luck your way in. The break is not a big factor in !5-ball either. Johnnyt

APA7, not the post i was refering to. He said what kind of odds can he get playing the 10 ball ghost, and i simply asked what kind he wanted. Also, didn't understand why he responded the way he did and what the numbers meant he added to my question. I guess it was some inside joke i didn't get since Chris thought it was funny. I know it would be tuff action since he hasn't booked but a few loosers in 10yrs as i've heard him claim. I do know he should have beat Shane when you make the wing ball 84 times. Billy Kuykendall.
