Break Cues: BK2 vs OB - Thoughts?

So, not really "inspired" by big tony's latest episode, but it is a little timely... I was all set on the BK2, not really sure why, just because I'm tired of my cheapy jump/break cue and I want to get away from phenolic (will put on a Samsara on whatever cue I do get).

There's no place locally that has either the BK2 or OB break cues for me to try... but you fine people out here in AZBLand... I know there are some of you that have tried everything.

So... for those who have hit both, how would you compare them?

I use the BK2 butt with a OB Break Shaft and to steal a line from the Anito Kid, " I kid you not".

I've never used an entirely OB Break Cue so I don't know how it feels or breaks.

The Predator BK2 is a very nice break cue with the original shaft. I think I get just a little bit more cue ball control on the break with the OB break shaft but that could just be subjective thinking and not a reality at all.

For me, practicing my break is probably more important than the actual equipment.
 
I've had both. I broke more solid with the BK2, but it had the phenolic tip on it. I'm sure my break would not have solid had I had samsara on the BK2. However, I didn't really have much control on the CB

I sold the BK2 and bought a OB Break shaft after I switched to playing BCAPL.

That all said, I can't compare apples-to-apples with the two cues because the tips are different. However, I did have another shaft with a samsara tip between the time I sold the BK2 and bought the OB Break shaft.... the OB Break shaft gives me a better break than the other, and I seem to have more CB control with it than both the other shaft and the BK2.

What butt do you use with your OB Break Shaft?

I have a Greg Sirca butt that I use with the OB Break Shaft and the weight is about 19oz . ...

funny thing...I get a lot of compliments on the break-cue-butt than I do my Ivory-filled player. (both have a lot of inlays)
 
I own an OB and have broken with my friends BK2. They are both great break cues. I personally like my OB because of the cue ball control. I have had it for a few weeks and recently i started getting a great spread on my break and keeping the cue ball in the center of the table pretty much every time. The OB does have a soft hit so it does take a while to get use to it. I would recommend the OB but that may be because i own one. Both are great quality and value. I hope i helped out a bit.
 
I'm sure they're both great breakers... Just wondering about durability and whatnot. I don't have a super-hard break... usually between 18 and 20mph, but with my current "fake phenolic" tip I don't have a lot of options to control the CB, other than to the hit the rack dead square. I originally bought it because it was a jump/break... now I have the predator air, so I don't really need the jump portion.

I had thought there was a large price difference between them, but after looking again, I see there's not really, so... really its a matter of trying something kind of new, or going with what has been a pretty proven standard.
