Elephant Beautiful Balls

I did not particularly like Elephant Beautiful Balls when they were being used in various tournaments a few years ago. Doing a search for Billiard Balls on E-bay I ran across several of these sets being auctioned at pretty low prices. I've done a google search on these balls but there's not much information available. Does anyone have any experience with them? Are they phenolic thermoset like Aramith? How do they compare to Aramith Super Pro balls?

They are not phenolic resin.

The ones being sold on Ebay for $50 or in that range are either knock-offs or factory seconds, as that prices is WAY below wholesale cost ever was.

I like to play with Pool Balls that look like Pool Balls, not escapees from a Light Show, or a BAD DREAM--->>>>>>

They play well, but, in a very short period of time, they dull, and will not shine up with anything other than a machine, because, as previously stated, they are not Phenolic Resin.

Thanks for all the input guys. I was tempted to bid since they were selling around $25 to $30. Thought they were quality balls at a give-away price. I was almost scammed.

I've always loved the look of the coloured swirls on Elephant Beautiful Balls - and they look so much better than all other similar designs as they seem to get the colour to white ratio perfect each time. I've never seen them "in the flesh" but I've seen cheaper versions over here in Europe, but I'd only buy the Elephant version personally.

Some of my friends have expressed concerns about aiming at an object ball which has so much white on it, but that wouldn't bother me I don't think, as the striped balls have a lot of white on them too don't they?

Can anyone who has played pool with them tell me if you get used to the swirls after a while?

It is actually much easier to aim with them because you can go look at the angle, pick out a particular area of the pattern on the ball and go back to the shooting position and still see that spot, as opposed to on a completely uniform solid ball. You do get used to it after a while. The ones that really can throw me are the Lunar Rocks, in terms of playing 9 ball. Because only a small portion of the ball is colored so you can't immediately identify your next ball.
