Re-Cut points

I am thinking of having an Ebony nosed cue with Tiger Maple re-cut points with Ebony again inside the points. What dimension is used for the Tiger Maple re-cuts? 1/4" width or is this too wide? I figure the width would be similar to what 4 veneers are in width.

That cue would look best wint .100" to .125". A .250 wide area is too much. I have made it both ways.
