Just like the header says, I am working on putting together a shirt line, and in the future to include hats, polos etc., that will be pool oriented.

We don't have much in the way of great shirts outside of Hustlin USA or DeadStroke stuff. I am looking to fill that void.

I just happen to be very good at design, and I already make custom airbrush clothing,so I have the experience under my belt to make this a successful venture if the interest is there. I plan on incorporating a website for orders of course,as well as travel to all the tournaments. Joe Villapando currently travels the shows and I would most likely split a booth with his "Pool I.Q." videos, pending his approval.

I was just looking for any input here as we pretty much have one of the most knowledgeable members in the pool and billiard community here on AZ, so I value the feedback!

Buyers vote with their wallet. So, to maximize sales, you need to know your target audience. I'm going to take a stab, that the existings vendors knows what sells and doesn't, which dictates their clothing lines. If you're going for a niche market, then you need to know your target audience.

AZ forum is a good resource, but I don't think its representative of the pool playing market.

Good luck in your venture

I've bought 3 shirts from LeagueShirts.com (graphics mostly). I also got one from Spot Clothing (I need the six) and another from pool4u (Got Stroke?) Then 2 from Fast Lenny/OnTheRail. I, personally, refuse the Hustlin' USA line; though it is tremendously popular. PoolTees.com, I think it is, has a number of nice shirts that are on my list (Shoot Pool, Not People is next on my "pool-shirt-to-buy" list).

I like witty or sarcastic shirts, myself, so they must have a short and to the point graphic and/or phrase without sounding like an egomaniac or late night sub-par vegas lounge act.

Looks to me like he was stating that there isnt much in the way of choices other than hustlin and deadstroke....not that he had anything against either of the brands!

just curious, what do you have against the "hustlin u.s.a. shirt's?

the locals (or regionals) i've met wearing those shirts have been serious assholes. the brand has become cliche, imo - and since i have no real awe for people trying to hustle in general; i just find the name not to my taste.

i love pool, don't get me wrong, and most of pool is trying to get a fair game - but when people make getting that game an artform that benefits only them - that's not a show of pool skills - that's a mouth, not a cue.

I won't wear Hustlin USA either. I'm not a hustler, nor do I agree with the idea of hustling. I think it's a stupid, dangerous, dishonest thing to do.

As far as designs, I would love a modern line of shirts. The clever/humorous ones are great, and they get most of my money (currently own Eat/Sleep/Shoot, evolution, stroke it). I can't stand the deadstroke shirts. They remind me of the black light posters my stoner friends had on their walls in high school.

The boys and girls here in the Arts Department of Steamer Cues Sports, Ltd. are a bunch of talented folks. I asked them to come up with some fashion ideas for the modern pool player, and this turned out to be my favorite.

For some reason I'm having trouble uploading images, so screw it.

Suffice it to say they were really quite remarkable, and all had something to do with One Pocket which is almost impossible to get in a T-Shirt by-the-way. :sorry:

Great stuff so far! I have nothing against Hustlin USA or Deadstroke, I was just using them as a reference. I personally like the more graphically orientated stuff like Christian Audiger and Affiliction. I also like the witty stuff like "Pool players do it with stroke" and a classic design paired with it.

I am aiming for all pool games, and I have great ideas for a one hole shirt as well as straight pool. I am working on this brand as we speak, and as AZ might not be everyone, we tend to be passionate about pool and be quite opionated. Therefore I welcome the input. There will of course be a AZ memeber discount on this fine apparel!!!!

How about t-shirt colors? I know as pool players we tend to lean towards darker colors to not get the ole chalk streak.

I also would incorporate some gambling themes as well like "What do you wanna do for a dollar or two?" and "The nuts!" that would cross-over to poker players as well since pool and poker tend to go together like PB&J.

OP is not badmouthing hustlin usa/dead stroke...

edit: i had this thread open way too long and responded way too late :p

I think there are plenty of people selling shirts out there, but more can't hurt at least from my perspective. I'm just a t-shirt guy when it comes to marked up shirts. I don't want to spend the cost of a good polo shirt and have some graphic on it. Hell I don't even like to have a trademark of a high class company (like alligators) on my clothing.
I think the best shirts are the ones from Pooltees, they're witty and not just some ragtime yakking about hustling.
I've a few years on me so my opinion may not even come close to the general pool community.

never said the"op" was bad mouthing anything ,the question was directed to stl johnny, who answered honestly and i appreciate that. the end.

There are other lines, such as Billiard Life and +Spot.

I like this one from +Spot.

As much as I am not a hustler, nor could I be even if I wanted to, I recently bought a Hustlin USA polo. It seems to be the only billiard-centric clothing out there that is simple... dare I say "classy." Sure, the actual name of the company is far from it, but look at their clothing and their designs. Simple, unobtrusive logo, no real flashy graphics, etc... It's classy.

I'm not sure what your idea of "modern design" is, but I would be really interested in your clothing line if you were able to fill a niche that isn't currently filled. There are plenty of witty sayings printed on t-shirts. Some are OK, some are in rather bad taste. Either way, I don't think we need any more of those. Sure, have a few of them for the people that want them, but maybe it shouldn't be the foundation for the line.

If you are looking at doing simple, quality clothing (more than just t-shirts and hoodies) with a clean looking logo under a more friendly sounding brand name than "Hustlin," then you may really be on to something. You could bring a touch of class to a sport that could use it and I would be the first in line at your booth :)

Thats what Im "shooting" for Mikey! LOL I will have a logo and different lines for different folks. There will be some like Sharkys Billiards or character stuff, as well as classic looks, and updated "cool" factor stuff like special printing.

The key is selection. Think if Ralph Lauren and Affliction had a baby.....these would be it. When I have some completed stuff done as well as the trademark back I will post the name as well as some of the preliminary designs.

Most if not all the "Billiard clothing reminds me of "Roots" ya look like a walking frickin billboard. Brash, tacky and IMHO downright ugly.

I prefer simple so about the only pool related shirts I buy are from RT 9. They are simple in design, just a 9 on the front left hand side of the shirt.

I probably have about 30 - 40 of their shirts and will have about 5 more in a couple of weeks when I go to SBE.
