Removing Chuck From Headstock

I want to clean and lube the 3 jaw chuck on my lathe that I bought used (so no manual with it).

My headstock and chuck are a 1.4" bore, and I would like to know how to remove the chuck
so I can get to the snap ring on the back for disassembly.

I found a taig manual showing the smaller bore headstock and there is a 1" nut behind the chuck to hold while unscrewing the chuck,
but there's no nut on my setup.

Any help or a link to instructions or manual would be appreciated.

If it is like most of them you can lock the headstock with your index pin and the chuck should spin off counterclockwise. Sometimes they will be tight. I stick the small tool used to tighten the chuck in the hole and try that first by pulling on it, if that doesnt work I have a longer steel punch that is stronger and gives more leverage to turn it.

Worked slick as snot. Wasn't really too tight also. Many Thanks.

Finding out how simple it is makes me feel kind of dumb, but it's not the first time.

Thanks again.
