Butterfly cuemaker

Billy Webb makes the best dollar for dollar butterfly cue I think. Great hitting. Always extra shafts and very reasonable price for the work going into one.

Nobody ALIVE is doing it as well as steve. Klapp cues is doing the most complex butterfly work right now. Not to say that others can't. But the example above is the one of the most recent examples of the work that steve is doing. Maybe they can't do it, don't want to do it, or it's just not their style...
I don't mean to knock BHQ, DIVENEY, bautista, patrick or any of the other guys mentioned, but the "butterfly" work that they are doing isn't even close to the complexity of the cues that steve is building. Fanelli's style(http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=150850&highlight=fanelli) has had a direct influenced on Steve and the way he builds his cues. He can do the simple stuff like you guys are citing (butterfly's on diveney's hustlers or the butterflys between points like on billy webb's cues), take a look at the fanelli thread i provided a link for and then you'll understand what I mean... Once you see how fanelli's cues are built, then you might be able to wrap your heads around steve's builds and see what I mean...

FYI. I have seen a bunch of Bautista cues that you have not, and some have supper complecated butterfly's.

That may be the case but since I haven't seen them I can't comment on them. If you have pictures or a place I could go to where I could see these cues if love to see them. I'm a big butterfly cue fan and appreciate the work. I don't think bautista has sold, shown or listed anything like what Steve has been doing on here. I will say this though. There isn't an American cuemaker that's doing the work Steve is as affordably as he is either. Steves $1500 cues would probably be $3000 from any other capable American builder.

Since, he has not posted them I'm not going to show the pictures. However, here is one you may have seen:

I saw that cue before. I'm not sure why you think that. Both cues are nice. Bautista looks better to me.

They do both look nice! I agree! But steves cue design takes it a step or two further with traditional veneered points within the butterfly splices. Chuck starkey is known for doing a lot of work similar to that bautista you linked. Chuck's cues are pretty cool too with those big ole wood pins he uses :)

This is one of steve's earlier cues... This was a prototype or experiement of sorts. turned out pretty cool ;)
