VNEA tourn cue shipping help

I recently started planning our VNEA Vegas tournament trip details and am curious what some might do in this situation. I posted a similar post months ago with some saying ship them to the Motel/FedEx and some say take them with you as checked in luggage. The trouble I am having is that I don't have a FedEx location nearby to easily ship from and our flight out of LV is for 9:00am tues. which doesn't allow much time to get to an open FedEx in the morning and make the return trip. The day before we return is Memorial Day in which they are closed.

That said, I was wondering about purchasing one of the cue travel bags on here, loading it with my case and cues with some clothes and checking it as luggage. My question is how safe is this? Will they be protected enough from damage to the cues or case. What about theft, if I put a lock on it? I have a lock that is useable by TSA. Is the chance of them getting lost very good?

I have only flown a handful of times and have not yet had my luggage lost but I would hate to start the tournament in the am with no cues.....

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Travel case

I have taken my cues with me on several trips as checked baggage. I would purchase the porper travel bag as it has some padding or even a nice hockey bag would work and you canmpack clothes around it. I have never had an issue. Make sure you have a hard case to put in the travel bag to provide best protection for cues.
 
I take a long duffel style bag and pack my cue and case in the bottom, under my clothes.. It works greatly and I only have one piece of luggage that way..
 
Depending on the duffle bag, you might want to layer it all. Pack some jeans, case, then tees or what have you. If it's a hard bottom duffle, it shouldn't matter to much. Just my 2 cents
